“Perfect Family Hotel for your Legoland Vacation”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 13, 2011 via mobile

Just finished up a three night stay at the West Inn. We stayed here with our two boys during our visit to Legoland. Everything was perfect! From the welcoming staff to the delicious breakfast to the large, comfortable, perfect for a family rooms, we had a fantastic stay! The free shuttle was super convenient, always available, always on time and the drivers were friendly and helpful! They had a carseat and booster available for our kids. They even directed us to two delicious resturants that we had dinner at two nights. Our kids loved the pool, big hot tub, sand toys and bedtime milk and cookies!!! Overall, you'll be pleased if you choose to stay at the West Inn during your trip to Carlsbad!

My girlfriend and I stayed here during our visit to the Carlsbad area. The hotel is beautifully lit and decorated. The rooms are spacious and quiet. We expected it to be a bit noisier being so close to Legoland and having so many kids in the hotel, but it isn't. The staff is friendly and helpful and the walk to the beach is a mere 10 minutes (if that.) I found the pricing for the hotel to be a bit on the high end. It's a beautiful facility with fitness center and pool/spa. The breakfast buffet was tasty and changed a bit each day in it's offerings. We got a kick out of seeing the excited (and surprisingly well behaved) kids throughout the hotel. Kids especiallly seemed to enjoy watching cartoons on the big screen tv located in the breakfast dining area.
I joked with my girlfriend about the likelyhood of changing the channel to ESPN without getting tackled by the kids engrossed in their cartoons. Overall a pleasant stay. Quiet and relaxing.

Room Tip: Ask for a corner room if available near the stairs.

Great little boutique hotel close to Legoland, they even have free hotel parking and a free shuttle to Legoland. Cookies at night for the kids and breakfast included. Nice room, very comfy and a restaurant on site which delivers to our room. Laundry facilities on the hotel room floor which is convenient(some hotels have laundry only in the basement or something like that).

This hotel was absolutely fantastic. The restaurant food was exceptional. The rooms were spacey and super clean and the whole hotel had real charisma and heapings of charm.

I will look forward to going back, which is a definite.

Really low water pressure in shower. Everything else is great! The details are amazing. Very thoughtful. Great free breakfast, nice rooms, clean, comfortable beds, etc.
Very close to beaches, outlet shipping, and Legoland. You could literally walk. But we drove. No surprises, no hidden costs, just a very pleasant stay.

Room Tip: We got a suite with 2 beds. worked out well for family of 5.

This is a wonderful boutique hotel. No wonder they are rated number one hotel in carlsbad by tripadvisor. We are a family of 4, 2 adults a 5 year old and a 4 months old. The courtesy demonstrated by the hotel began a few days before we got there, they actually e-mailed us to confirm everything and to make sure we did not need anything else. My husband told them we are celebrating a few milestones and once we got there they had a champagne for us. During our whole stay we never came across an employee with a bad disposition, everyone had a smile on their face and they looked like they actually enjoyed their jobs.
Room was great. We had a double king room. Everything clean, new and super comfortable beds. I read some of the bad complains about the suite rooms not being separated with a door, geez!! If that is your biggest complain (not being able to close a door for more privacy) you should book a second honeymoon elsewhere! Lol
Only heads-up about the room is the bathroom, it only has a shower (is huge and beautiful) but if you have little kids that do not like the shower and are use to bathing in the tub you might have to improvise. Breakfast was delicious. Something new the 3 different days we ate., yeah, eggs are not "fresh" those were probably egg beaters...but yummy none the less. Pool was heated and spa nice and big. Side note: I was planing on booking the gran pacific palisade for their pool and kid splash zone, I am glad I did not!! Based on price we were only going to be able to stay 2 nights at the palisades and would have paid the same that I paid for 3 nights here!! The west pool is sufficient for the kids to have fun! Besides you are probably there to go to legoland and they have a waterpark there...we ended up using the pool just once...glad I did not pay the extra money for the other pool. The shuttle service is great. My husband was happy because he took a vacation from traffic and safe on parking. The shuttle left us right in front of the gate (no walking!! For those that visited Disneyland know what I am talking about) they also have booster seat and child seats!
Yummy chocolate chip cookies and milk in the evening. They have a "library" seating room with cabinets full of board games for the kids...just a couple need to be updated...just so many kids have access to them that some have missing parts. Ask the front desk for their movie list, it is complimentary.
The hotel has 2 restaurants on site: the West steakhouse and the West Bistro, we tried the Bistro, it is excellent ( I think it is rated number 2 by tripadvisor). This is a great hotel and we will definitely return in the future!

We stayed for 3 nights at the West Inn & Suites in July 2011. We were very happy with our stay. Our room was very quiet even though it is close to the freeway and train. The breakfast had a very nice selection of items from eggs to pancakes to cereals. The kids loved the breakfast and the cookies and milk at night were a plus too. The hotel shuttle dropped us off and picked us up at Legoland which was super! We went to the beach one day and were able to borrow the hotel boogie boards. They also had sand toys, umbrellas and more. The hotel staff was excellent and went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. We got a very happy surprise of Disney princess balloons in our room for my daughter's birthday. She was thrilled! We enjoyed a day at the pool. Lots of towels, cold water and floats for the kids. They even had swim diapers available which we did not need. We will definitely stay here again the next time we visit Carlsbad.
