This casual restaurant has a rustic feel. There are several large aquariums throughout the room, and we like to sit near one so we can watch the beautiful inhabitants swim and interact. As mentioned previously, the windows look out on the parking lot or street, thus our seating preference. Another fun fact: the tablecloths are mostly different from one another, but color coordinated. They are also changed seasonally.
All the fish is absolutely fresh, unless noted as flash frozen, which happens only rarely. The choice of fish is the most extensive I have seen, and all are prepared to perfection, either mesquite or cajun (by request) grilled. One is offered an array of side dishes, two of which are included in the reasonably priced meals.
My husband especially loves the skewered offerings, particularly the "Catch of the Day." He receives an extremely generous serving of fish this way, and gets to sample several types.
We are usually in Carlsbad for one week each year and eat at this restaurant at least once during each visit. In addition, we often take "home" (to our time-share condo) their delicious clam chowder or fresh bay shrimp for salads of our own creation. The sourdough bread makes a tasty addition to any meal eaten in or out, so don't forget to order some!
