“French cuisine in Carlsbad”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 27, 2012

Located at 2961 State St. in Carlsbad it is a favorite for snowbirds and tourist looking for home style cooking in cosy setting. While the storefront with outdoor seating, may seem impossible to enjoy Franco-Cal cuisine, the wine is affordable and the food was excellent. The staff is very personable, and the service was swift. Sea scallops with pesto pesto was a real winner!

“Lovely French bistro in Carlsbad”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 17, 2012

Always loved the food, and sat outside on patio. Friends went this year, and were saddended to find that they had removed a large tree that provided so much atmosphere. I will have to see for myself.

“Tasy Bistro in Carlsbad Village”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 6, 2012

Just had a bite there last night! Now it is called Vintage and the interior had been updated but is just as fetching. We ate the pate plate (delicious and big protion) and some buttternut squash soup. They have many wines by the glass and happy hour offerings too. They are open for lunch also. Very approachable menu with some French dishes and pastas, Yum! Reasonable prices.

“Now called Vintage Bistro”

Check it out - great food, service and you can't beat the ambience! They also offer a delish Port in place of dessert :)

“Caring & Personal customer service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 7, 2011

There are so many mixed reviews due to changing ownership of La Passage. I had to write and share that the owners Laura and her husband put so much love into re-doing the restaurant.
They run a “tight ship”, everything is well organized, the staff is caring.
The back patio is quite, with a grand eucalyptus tree keeping you company, and twinkle lights in the evening.
If you are lucky, you may hear the sound of the past; the train roll by.
As for the food, everything is served fresh, as in Europe, don’t think you will be dining and dashing. It is a place to enjoy the atmosphere. Next door they have a chocolate shop, need I say more.
Enjoy the personal touch of a family who cares to create a lovely evening in Carlsbad. Or as the locals call it, “the village.”
