“Great Hotel!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 27, 2012

Only five minutes away from Legoland and the shuttle service provided by the hotel was good! The breakfast in the mornings was okay......too often the selection were not refilled in a timely manner, but the rooms.....very comfortable and well laid out. Spacious, modern, good amenities....definitely some thought was put into these rooms. Equipped with microwave, refrigerator, counter top range and all the necessities; glasses, plates, flatware...even a dish towel! Do not even think about it...this is the place to stay at.

We stayed here this week on a business trip to Carlsbad. The room was perfectly comfortable and well provisioned with a small kitchenette. The breakfast was good with a selection of hot/cold food and with an early start most days it was good to be able to have a bite to eat at 545am...

With a car available to us it was a short drive to Carlsbad Village, but for those that don't the hotel runs a shuttle bus to the village and beach, very frequently until about 10pm at night...

My only negative comment is purely my own preference of being able to walk in the evening to restaurant/bar.... This hotel doesn't really have much close by to be able to do so..... But don't let that put you off.... Great room, great breakfast and great staff.

Note: no evening meal available or bar onsite....

We were moved to this hotel after having a bad experiene elsewhere. What a relief to arrive to pleasant people, and a lovely establishment. The hotel was very so nice, we had a cute little kitchenette in our room, and the breakfast was the best we have had at any hotel and served on porcelain plateware. It was literally minutes away from our destination, Legoland, and we were thrilled with our stay despite its brevity. Yes, the internet was slow, but we weren't there on business. The downfall for us was the train whistle every 30 minutes or so, but it stopped by around 10:00, so we were able to sleep just fine afterall. Would definitely stay again simply for location!

Room Tip: Avoid staying on the side with the train tracks if you need to go to bed early.

I really heavily on internet and phone communication while on business. I do not recommend this hotel if you rely on the same.
1. Verizon connection here is 1 to 2 bars and every call I have made has been dropped.
2. The Wireless Connection here is slow, not just moderately slow, but very slow. Even with several bars, the connection is great, but the service is slow.

Room Tip: Room is right near freeway. If you request a room, have it on the side opposite of the freeway Wal...

On a three week vacation at several hotels, this was by far our favorite stop. The hotel was great; wonderful decor, very comfortable beds, full size frig and large kitchen. We actually ended up staying longer than originally planned because it was just such a nice place. All of the employees were very nice and accomodating. We hope to go back to Carlsbad soon and would definitely stay there again.

Stayed at this hotel 3 nights. We were in a rush at checkout on Saturday morning, it was around 6:45am. Both my iphone along with my husband's iphone were left in the desk. We were in town for a 3 day course which ended Saturday around 5:20PM. At about 5:30PM we realized we did not have our iphones. I called the Hotel to request that a staff go to the room and get our iphones. We were assured that we would receive a call back ---- We were never given a call back. When I called I was told that someone else was in the room and they would not be able to go into the room while the current guest is checked-in. We were told that John the General Manager would be calling us back we never got a call. We called housekeeping we were told that house keeping turned in the iphones to the front desk. Today the 5th of July 2012, the General Manager John states, his staff mailed one iphone, yet they have no tracking # and charged me shipping. BEWARE! IPHONES go missing at this location.

We stayed here for one night in the beginning of May. It is now called Hyatt House (I believe all the Summerfield Suites became Hyatt House). It is super convenient to Legoland and the Carlsbad Premium Outlets. Even though it's located right by the freeway, you can't hear any noise if the window is closed. There's not much of a view but it's all about the convenient location. The beach is only a few blocks away but we didn't get a chance to go. Next time! Since this hotel is so close to Legoland, expect to find families here.

The check-in process was fast and the staff very courteous. There is ample parking.

The rooms are spaceous with a nice little kitchenette. We didn't really use the kitchenette since we only stayed for one night, but it was convenient to have the fridge for our leftovers and we made a pot of tea on the stove. The bathroom is very large, with the sink outside, so more people can use the bathroom facilities at one time. We didn't use the sofa bed but my sister's kids in another room loved it. The TV swivels so you can watch it in bed or sitting in the sofa area.

The breakfast was adequate, with your average hot food and cold cereal and muffins. The breakfast area is roomy, we didn't have trouble finding a table as with some of the other places we stayed.

We had a pleasant stay and would come here again next time.
