“Perfect resort for Legoland”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 21, 2012

We just returned from a week stay at MarBrisa. I agree with everything that the more recent posters have stated. It is a very nice timeshare resort next to the Sheraton and sharing a private entrance to Legoland. We stayed in Villa 51 and did hear the noise of the roller coasters from opening to closing time through the open balcony door. However with the door closed, there was no noise. We had a view of the ocean and sunset. The room was clean and in good condition. Staff is very friendly and accommodating. Check in and out was simple. Since we were there a week, housekeeping came midweek. The pool is fairly small and plain, there is a splash area for little kids and a jacuzzi. The gym is also small, there are 2 treadmills and 3 ellipticals in addition to weights and weight benches. Everything is clean and in excellent condition.

There is construction going on in front of the Sheraton for Phase 2 of the MarBrisa Resort which will include many more units, 2 large pools and additional amenities. It is well located to the beach, Flower Fields, San Diego, Temecula and various lagoons and hiking possibilities.

Room Tip: Second floor rooms are on the street level. something to consider if you have a lot of things to bri...

Rooms were clean and spacious. Very friendly staff, excellent customer service. We loved the easy access to Legoland. Along with Legoland, we visited numerous sites in southern CA and found this to be a convenient location. Only 40 minutes to San Diego Zoo, 30 - 35 minutes to Safari Park, Torrey Pines and La Jolla. One negative was the pool size for our 2 boys who prefer a little more activity. We had a view of Legoland but next time would request to be on a different side as the roller coaster noises started to get tiresome in the late afternoon.

Room Tip: Facing Legoland has best view but bear in mind it can be a little noisy. Thankfully the park is onl...

We have been here three times before this and enjoyed the area. One tip is that there is a private entrance for the Sheraton and Marbrisa to Legoland and Legoland offers a free one hour shopping pass to the park. You just enter through the private entrance and show your room key and they run your credit card and reverse it if you get back within the hour. We walked most of the park in the hour. If you doit with kids you probably won't make it out, but enjoy the rides then.
It is a great park for small children.

The Good:
The location- Close to I-5, dangerously close to the Carlsbad Premium Outlets, Carlsbad Village (3 exits away), next to Legoland (literally), very close to many restaurants

The customer service- Everyone was really kind and welcoming. Our DVD player in the room stopped working and within 5 minutes of calling, a new one was installed.

Activity Center- Gym wasn't close to being big but it was just fine for me. Free DVD rentals. Ping Pong table. Activities for kids for a fee ranging from $1-$5.

Pool- Verrrrry clean and the view from the pool and hot tub was really nice. Heated!

Rooms- Clean, comfortable bed, ocean view from our room. We stayed in a studio and the fridge came in handy for our dining out leftovers.

The Bad:
-Not a lot of parking. We were always able to find parking but I can't imagine how crowded it's going to be in the summer months when Carlsbad explodes with tourists.

-No daily housekeeping. They give you more towels and will take out your trash if you request it. Only if you stay for 7+ days will they come on the 3rd day.

-One pool and one hot tub. The hot tub was crowded. I can't imagine how crowded that pool area is going to be in the summer.

-Room service comes from the Sheraton resort right next door and it was a limited menu.

-There is no spa. The spa is at the Sheraton resort next door.

Overall:

This is a great resort for families. Not much for couples.

Room Tip: Don't stay in the building next to the Legoland roller coaster!

This was a wonderful trip for us. First vacation week with Hilton Grand Vacation Club. The facility is new and still being developed, so for those who insist on fully developed resort amenities, it might be disappointing. But we were delighted by walking the nearby trails adjacent to the city owned golf course (a three mile loop the way we did it), daily walks on the beach about 1-1/2 mile drive away, the excellent sporty drive up to Mt. Palomar Observatory, San Diego Zoo, the amazing Sunday Encenitas Farmers Market, and the very helpful staff (hey, Melissa!). If we could get there more easily from north central Wisconsin, this would probably be on our regular list.

Room Tip: All rooms seem to have nice views. Villas 50-52 probably are quieter, but a little farther from the...

In a recent trip to San Diego to see the sites and visit Disney Land we were very fortunate to find a two bedroom suite at the property. We had our children and our grandchildren with us, ages 5&3 and we couldn't have asked for more. The property was immaculate and the pool was just what the kids needed to work off some excess energy. However, during our stay the city and much of the area was subject to a power outage, a blackout that lasted for more than several hours. The staff went out of their way to keep us informed of the efforts to get things up and running electrically as well as provided us with candles and flashlights. When the power was restored everything was back to normal. The hotel location is just right for visits to downtown San Diego, old town, the marina and local beaches. It was a quick ride if you avoid the morning and evening traffic to Disney Park and other attractions. The rooms were very large and had all appliances and cookware that you could ask for. It was a great trip despite the man-made problems with the power.

Room Tip: Higher floors and two bedrooms are in a separate section away from the rest. Still close to the pool...

We were invited to a birthday party at the Legoland Aquarium and the family also booked a block of rooms at the MarBrisa. We stayed 2 nights in a standard room... 1 queen bed, 1 double pull out sofa, kitchenette (microwave, mini fridge, sink, coffee maker). It was great! We've only had a kitchenette in a hotel room once before but didn't really put it to much use, this time we did and it was so helpful to have it! The balcony of our room looked out over Legoland and there was a BBQ and sand volleyball court just below. Initial plans were party and then BBQ and hang by the pool or down by the volleyball court/grassy play area.... BUT it rained HARD! The Birthday girls family had rented a 2 bedroom suite and after the party we all ended up there. They had a full kitchen and dining set. She brought along her crock pot and was able to make a full St. Patricks Day Corned Beef and Cabbage meal for dinner! The children had a ball in one room (watching movies and playing board games etc.), the adults enjoyed the adjacent living room space. It was just a perfect weekend! Check in and out was a breeze, the resort was very accommodating (brought extra blankets and pillows no problem) and CLEAN! We will stay here again if in the Carlsbad area! It is kind of isolated so having a car to go to the grocery store or restaurants is necessary. Overall we were very happy with our stay ... next time we hope to visit in warmer weather so we'll be able to enjoy the pool area and resort more!
