We were visiting North County San Diego for family vacation. Initially we were booked to stay at another location in Solano Beach. After one night we decided to leave.

We had stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn Carlsbad Beach several years ago so I drove north to Carlsbad. I walked in to negotiate a rate. I began speaking with Regie Brown. He provided several options and we decided to move to this Carlsbad location. The room was very nice and the location was great (right across the street from the ocean). This hotel had a heated pool, great breakfast area (made to order items), and a shuttle. The change was awesome. We were able to relax and enjoy our vacation. The teams at Hilton Garden Inn were incredible. They provided beach towels, chairs, etc. via the Spring Break deal. The shuttle drove us to locations in Carlsbad for dinner. The staff knew our names and always asked how we were doing. We even learned their names in the 3 days of being there. Cherie was great and very accommodating.

I later found out that Regie was the General Manager for the hotel. This hotel and his staff should be a model for many operations. We left there knowing we'd be back. We are also letting our friends know about this location as well.

Excellent experience and we are eager to return.

We stayed here in February and had a wonderful time. Room with an ocean view, wonderful staff and an excellent restaurant to boot! The staff (from the front desk, cleaning crew and restaurant servers) all went out of their way to make sure we had a pleasant stay. We arrived late the first night and were very surprised to have such a good restaurant right on the premises. Will definitely plan another visit!

We had the pleasure of staying at this hotel last weekend. Our check-in was flawless. Our guest room was large and included a sofa and a direct view of the ocean. We were very close to the Carlsbad Outlet Mall and the hotel had shuttle service to and from the area. Many nice restaurants to choose from, but the food in the hotel is excellent. Breakfast is a must as you can have your omlet personally prepared by the Chef. This hotel is perfect for shopping and very close to the Flower Fields and Legoland. It's very clean and the staff throughout are very helpful and friendly.

Stayed here with the intent of a relaxing weekend where there was easy access to restaurants and the beach. Location is pretty good since it right off the 5 in Carlsbad. It is 60 miles up to Newport Beach and 40 miles down to San Diego. Coast Hwy, while slow moving is a great drive to see Torrey Pines and the Camp Pendleton area. The beach is literally across the street, although a 4 lane highway, the stoplight makes it more convienent to get across. It is cliff-like there so you do need to walk down the bike path to get to the beach access area. There are a ton of bikers and runners in the area so you will definitely not be the only one out there. You can also pull out of the hotel parking lot and drive a quarter mile to the beach access parking lot if you don't feel comfortable walking. The beach itself is very nice, mostly good sand with some smooth stones that have been weathered by the waves. Lots of space and walkable for aways to the north and south. Some surfers were out there, along with a seal that came up on the beach for a minute. While there are not restaurants within walking distance, there is a shuttle that will take you into downtown Carlsbad where you can find many with an eclectic mix of tastes. The shuttle was convienent but we did have to wait 20 minutes before we were able to leave and after calling to have them pick us up, being quoted 20 minutes, and waiting almost an hour (van troubles), I would say it is not very reliable. The hotel staff was very nice and accommodating to any requests we had. The bartender Michael was great. The grounds were nice. The pool, the hot tub, the fireplace lounge area, are all very inviting. I can imagine during their busy season it can get crazy. The rooms themselves were not as nice/new as I would have thought from the initial pull up. The hotel is an awkward shape and we got lost when we first tried finding our room. They have the typical HGI turn dial beds that I hate.
Overall there are so many choices in the area, it depends on where you want to be. I would stay in the hotel again if I want another relaxing weekend. Probably move closer to a thriving town if I wanted to walk to nearby restaurants .
