The room was clean and the staff was very friendly. It was a great location for our trip to Legoland. They offered the best price for tickets and provide a shuttle which saves even more money. They offered a free breakfast too.

Stayed here a few times a decade ago, when it was Holiday Inn. Wasn't looking forward to going back. It's much improved. Even though it's aged, all of the employees were gracious, especially the van drivers and the housekeeping. Free Shuttle to Lego Land, and quick there and back. Nice comfortable room for free breakfast. I was lucky to have room 159, which had close proximity to pool and breakfast, as well as to my car. The room was very spacious with great tv and bed linen. Bathroom was large, with a wonderful Moen adjustable shower head. They offer quality shampoo and soaps, etc. Fantastic access to on and off freeway. It's a one minute walk to the outlet mall, and a two minute walk to PF Changs. (Best Chinese restaurant experience ever). Don't go to Fridays, which is on the property and which I'm talking about in a separate restaurant review. The only reason why I'm not giving this resort the highest possible score is because it needs to be painted at some point, since it does look to be 20 some years since the last time. But then that still keeps the prices very reasonable- so there's that balance.

Carlsbad is clean and nice. Everything about it including our stay at Carlsbad by the Sea was great. Our room overlooked the slightly heated pool (hot tub was hot), the deck was nice and the rooms comfy and clean. The girl that checked us in was fast, polite and helpful even though she was really busy! Breakfast was good to! Not to far from legoland and right across the street from a mall! Will come back to Carlsbad and Carlsbad by the Sea cause we didn't get to spend enough time here...

I had a 3 day business trip to San Diego and Carlsbad made it different.
I'd leave the Hotel every day from 8:00am to 5:00pm.

Breakfast: They have a nice and simple breakfast buffet set up and ready by 6 in the morning that was very convenient. I personally liked their coffee.

Shopping: There is an outlet just across the street from the hotel. It has all the brands and a decent food court. You can see Starbucks from your door step. That helped pass the remainder of my day.

Entertainment: There are no Cinemas closes by, and the in-room entertainment system was good. They had movies that were newly released and were not yet out on DVDs.

Internet: Free Wi-Fi and there is a desktop computer in the reception for the use of hotel residents.

Disneyland is also around 90 minutes away from the hotel.
