“Great Location - Slightly Better-Than-Average Food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 9, 2013

There are all sorts of reasons to choose a restaurant. Naturally, one wants good food in a great atmosphere with convenient parking and priced within one’s budget. Located in the Carlsbad Company Stores area, Kings Fish House is a fine catch and meets most of those requirements!

Kings Fish House gives a great first impression. When one enters their premises, doors are held open, smiles are given and there is a true welcome feeling. Because we dined on a Monday, the restaurant wasn’t nearly as crowded as it would be any other day of the week. We were promptly seated at a large table, per our request, so that we would have ample space to review maps and brochures for a trip on which I was about to embark. For me, one of the great benefits of dining at this restaurant was the fact that the light is good and the tables were large.

The menu is quite extensive and there are choices to fit nearly anyone’s desire. I chose the swordfish and found it to be good, but nothing to write home about. I did not give it the highest rating because, while I was satisfied with my lunch, it’s not one that I would rave about. There wasn’t any particularly unique flavor or presentation, just good food.

For me, lunch is often a business meeting and the food is not the primary concern. It’s a combination of convenience, service, and other amenities in addition to the food which make for a good business lunch.

“Great food, good kids menu”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 6, 2013

On a family vacation you get used to the usual kids menu of mac and cheese, hamburgers etc which really gets old after a while. This menu had a bit more choice and served drinks in neat cups that the kids could keep. The adult menu has a decent selection and the food was very good. Nice friendly staff and atmosphere.

“OK but many nicer places to choose from”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 15, 2013

We had dinner here because it was close to the Premium Outlets that were had just come from. The fish is all farm raised, which I don't quite understand to be a great selling point. The food was average for a pretty high price tag.

“Great Place for Kids”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 8, 2013

We wanted a place with solid food for kids and we found it. Kids were wiped out from Legoland and King's Fish made it easy. We had some solid food as well. Fish was a bit bland perhaps - I had the trout with almonds. All in all, we'd return.

“Meal with colleagues”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 2, 2013

5x tables of 10, they coped really well, chicken and prawns to start and gorgeous fish for main meal we did get a choice which was lovely as usually with big parties you don't. We all sat outside under the canopy and some of us who were travelling where nipping over the carlsbad mall for a shop it that's close.
Would definatley return, it seems like the only place they offered a low fat option too !
