My husband and I recently stayed at this sold out CA state beach and I can see why. It was located in the trees on the bluffs of the ocean and about 10 mins from Capitola. The campsites are large and you have room in between the sites so you are not packed in together. I recommend bringing your bikes and biking into the beachside town (which is on your way into the heart of Capitola)...it may bit a little too far to walk. Also if you don't bring your own firewood, purchase it at the Orchard Supply Store for $15 and you get twice the amount of wood than from the camp resident selling it for $10. Also there is a Whole Foods, Targets, IHOP, mall etc within 10 mins of the campsite in case you forgot something or just don't want to cook. We stayed on Campsite 32 and really liked that we had a small tree to stay under, and it was far enough from the bathrooms that we didn't hear people going in and out either. I recommended booking ahead of time (well in advance) and we are DEFINITELY going back!!
BTW, we didn't have any issues with theft however we were warned about it. Also, we are not one for leaving a ton of things out at our site besides the tent.
