So when I pass through Capitola on Highway 1, I always try to find a way to rationalize a stop at Gayle's. Could it be the hibiscus iced tea, or the decadent cakes, or the crisp salad cups, or the blue plate specials for dinner? So many reasons. My latest favorite is the wheat-free peanut butter chocolate chip cookies - I don't even want to know how many calories it has - it's sinful.
The only cons are the crowds - prepare to take a number - because loads of people love Gayle's. And how quickly an order adds up - I'm always a little shocked at the total when my server reads the receipt. So you always feel like a rock star when you find a deal in the day old section!
