“Charming”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 2, 2014

A charming place to stay. Stunning views. More homey and warm than a hotel and in one of the nicest neighborhoods in Capitola. You will feel like you live there. Friendly people. Makes for a lovely getaway.

This was a very charming location with beautiful views. There were two couples in my group and we stayed in the 2 bedroom Ocean Suite. We had a great time socializing in the living area, then had our comfortable separate bedrooms at night. Continental breakfast is delivered at this B&B and ours was brought promptly at 9am as we had requested. The views are spectacular. The only drawback is the very thin walls. Our downstairs neighbors turned their TV on at 2 am and since I'm a light sleeper it did wake me up. Maybe bring a set of earplugs, just in case.

Room Tip: Ask for an ocean view, it's worth it.

We loved staying here. The room was clean, warm, quiet and the bed was so comfortable, with nice hot water for bathing. The most friendly service from start to finish was very much appreciated. And breakfast was brought to us at the time we discussed and was delicious!
We can't wait to come back and stay longer next visit!

We stayed in the ocean view room and had such a nice time. Great view, lovely breakfast served in the room, nice trail to the beach. Couldn't have been nicer! Birds and seals just over the bluff in the bay. Otr daughters came over from Mountain view to check out the place and they were also impressed.

My daughter and son-in-law held their wedding rehearsal, wedding and reception at Monarch Cove. We had gone to see it a year beforehand, and it seemed impressive then but wow, the wedding weekend was even more so. The dramatic setting overlooking Capitola Bay is stunning all by itself. I like how the gardens are well-tended but not overly fussy as they are some places--you know you are outdoors but every tree and shrub isn't manicured to death, and you can take pleasure in actually sitting outside at one of the many tables. The wedding couple rented out all the rooms, so we got to see quite a few of them, each one different in terms of decoration, configuration, space, etc, but all of the same high quality coziness. My only criticism is the use of powerful chlorine/cleaning compounds to clean the rooms. It seems at odds in an area that strives to be green: since the rooms are cleaned so often, they could easily clean up the rooms with more natural cleansers, avoiding the fumes left behind. But that is minor in the overall scope of things. The staff was very nice and helpful, delivering a continental breakfast each morning. We plan to come back soon!

My cousin held her wedding here the first weekend of November, and while Monarch Cove had nothing to do with the amazingly perfect weather, their venue is outstanding.. Fantastic ocean views, nicely appointed rooms, extremely friendly staff, what's not to like. I highly recommend this B and B.

We had an amazing weekend here for a friend's wedding. The property is beautiful and the staff is so nice! They really made it a great experience from the start to finish. My husband and I had a cute cottage that was dog friendly which made our traveling so much easier. We will be back soon, Thank you guys so much for a great weekend!
