Hanging precariously and magically from a rather steep cliff,The TAKTSANG MONASTERY aka TIGER'S NEST is a monument
of genuine pride of BHUTAN.It defies all principles of architecture
to the core and holds tourists from allover the World, spellbound.
It's history is deeply associated with the visit of GURU PADMASAMBHAVA,the revered Indian Saint who came to Bhutan in the 8th century.
From the Road Head,an adventurous trek to Tiger's Nest follows an uphill route which takes approx 3 to 4 hours at an average walking speed on a clear sunny day.
Please do remember to carry sunscreen lotion, plenty of drinking water,
a hat and a walking stick for support and maybe to shoo off the birds which may get too friendly with you.
