“AN ARCHITECTURAL MARVEL”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 18, 2014

Hanging precariously and magically from a rather steep cliff,The TAKTSANG MONASTERY aka TIGER'S NEST is a monument
of genuine pride of BHUTAN.It defies all principles of architecture
to the core and holds tourists from allover the World, spellbound.

It's history is deeply associated with the visit of GURU PADMASAMBHAVA,the revered Indian Saint who came to Bhutan in the 8th century.

From the Road Head,an adventurous trek to Tiger's Nest follows an uphill route which takes approx 3 to 4 hours at an average walking speed on a clear sunny day.

Please do remember to carry sunscreen lotion, plenty of drinking water,
a hat and a walking stick for support and maybe to shoo off the birds which may get too friendly with you.

“Wonderful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 17, 2014

It is quite a trek to see this place but worth every step. Take a pair of walking sticks and just go at a pace you can sustain and wait to be amazed. For the last half a kilometre it is a new breathtaking view at every corner. I still can't work out how it stays clinging to the cliff face. It really must be magic. If you are in Bhutan you really should not miss this.

“Taksang, Tigers Nest, Paro, Bhutan”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 17, 2014

Perched on a mountain cliff, 3500 m above sea level, this ancient Buddhist Temple is real wonder. Getting there is a challenge, the wonder of a temple built on a cliff, high in the mountain, makes the 2+ hour walk well worth the effort

“Difficult !”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 17, 2014

Great views, but very difficult to ascend.. steep. Atleast 6 hrs to make it to the top & back. Avoid using a pony as they walk on the edge & also if your not scared to look down.. else you can it will save up your energy for to make it to the top.

“Magnificent View & Must do in Bhutan”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 15, 2014

We started off in the late afternoon and was the last one to come back in darkness but still it was a great hike. We hiked to the Tiger's Nest after we touched down at Paro Airport. We were a bit tired but were still thrilled to climb up!

Although it was raining in the morning, the weather was very nice when we climbed up! Clear blue sky with cool breezes helped to make an unforgettable experience.

It was not an easy hike but a manageable one. Walk slowly as it is located in high altitude. Take as many pictures as possible as you don't know whether you will be back or not!
