“Simply breathtaking”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 10, 2014

This resort is simply breathtaking. It is on top of a mountain and once you reach the hotel is view is just amazing. The road to the hotel (about 20 minutes) is in a really bad condition but it is completely worth the trip. The resort is surrounded by mountains and you can also see the snow covered mountains at a distance. The rooms are huge and extremely comfortable. However, there was a problem with the heating in the rooms occupied by some of our friends. They had organized a nice bonfire for new year's eve. The food was very average but we experienced that across restaurants in Bhutan. The SPA is again worth a visit. Highly recommend making appointments in advance as they don't have many masseuse.

I have never been to a more peaceful place. There is a beautiful stream and water fall running right through the middle of the property. The beds are super comfortable and the staff are amazing! It is a MUST STOP!

Room Tip: All of the rooms are amazing. The floors are even heated!

The Pros - Gorgeous views, large room, very good heating, lovely bhutanese architecture

Cons - Away from the town, although this isnt very important as likely you will have a guide & driver at your disposal if you wanted to go into town. Food - a buffet is served for tourists (like in any other Bhutanese hotel).

The field trip to a resort hidden in the forest named NAK-SEL was enjoyable and we can see this place "A Heaven On Earth". The location is bit far from Paro town but it stands on a calm and luxury place where one can really enjoy and appreciate the beauty of nature.
The curvings on the wall are fine and simple showing the Bhutanese unique architecture. The rooms are clean and well furnished. The furniture found are modern and its for sure that every guest will have a great time. More than this, Mt. Jumolhari and Taktsang(Tiger's nest) are the eye catching of the resort.
The staffs of the resort are very polite and one's heart will be melted by their beautiful smiles. We are very thankful to the Front Desk Manager Mr. Hem for sharing his precious time with us and the family of the resort for their help.
we bet, the visitors will never regret for choosing this place instead they will have wide smiles and say "WOW". If u don't believe, you must visit and verify.

The place is little away from the city and airport, on the top of a hill and the approach is through mud road for about 10 minutes. But once you are in, you don't mind a thing. Beautiful carvings everywhere in the main area, huge rooms, nice floor heating , lovely balconies and great views of the snow peaks from the room. What more one can ask? And yes, great service and wonderful food. True, once in the hotel, you do not get to loaf in the city/market place. But that is a small irritant. The hotel grounds are truly beautiful and one feels like hanging out in the comfort of the room and enjoy the luxury.

Room Tip: We were in the rooms close to the reception and found it very convenient. But as a general rule, go...

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Located thirty minutes from Paro International Airport, Nak-Sel Boutique Hotel & Spa is a luxury retreat where the comforts of man and the presence of nature combine for a peaceful escape in the hills of Bhutan. Nestled on the edge of the national forest and the quiet Ngoba Village, Nak-Sel derives its name from the Dzongka translation of ‘Forest,’ which is only fitting for this Himalayan sanctuary. The main lodge and surrounding cottages of Nak-Sel rest on six acres of apple orchard, nearly 2700 meters above sea level. Each room, cottage and suite boasts unparalleled views of Mount Jumolhari, Taktsang Monastery, Sangachoekhor Monastery, and the Paro valley below. Elaborate hand-carved pillars and beautiful stonework exemplify the essence of Bhutan while tapered mud-brick walls provide insulation and restful silence. Leading Bhutan in energy efficiency, Nak-Sel features LED lighting, highly efficient water heaters, and Swedish under floor heating systems preheated by solar panels. Main construction materials for Nak-Sel are indigenous and locally purchased. Traditional windows, mud-bricks, framework and even furniture were locally crafted here in Ngoba Village, connecting Nak-Sel to the surrounding forest. ... more   less
