We had a guide take us to this resort, about 2 hrs up in the mountains north of Hermosa. Half the trip is on a rock strewn dirt road, which was interesting but a bit nerve wracking. We spent the day horse back riding and zip-lining. Their zip line was wonderful, across meadows, tree canopies and waterfalls. The lunch served was delicious, highly recommend the fish selection which is tilapia. The grounds of the resort are lovely, they have a hummingbird area where we just sat for 30 minutes and watched about 50 or more of the little creatures dashing around and feeding. They also have a great butterfly cage that you can walk through. The gardens are filled with so many varieties of local flowers..really spectacular? We personally thought the whole volcanic sauna, mud bath and hot spring was a bit far fetched. That withstanding, feat way to get close to the magnificent flora and fauna on Costa Rica without having to trudge thru a forest. BRING INSECT SPRAY!,!
