Read this entire entry if you are considering staying here!
Before booking, I checked reviews on-line......most were passable but several were scathing. I wondered about these but booked rooms anyway for the convenience to our destination. Big mistake. When we booked, they were training a new reception clerk. We asked for 2 rooms, assumed we had 2 rooms and got a confirmation #. All set - right? Wrong! When we arrived, we were told we only had one room. They acted like it was our fault - the manager kept saying –“you have to have 2 confirmation #'s for 2 rooms.” There was no reasoning with him. He was very confrontational. I was actually frightened because his temper kept escalating. Since it was a holiday and we had come a long way, we were feeling pretty helpless. The first night they had a vacancy - so we got 2 rooms. (One for my husband and myself and one for my sister.) But the second night our only option was to stay in their "conference room they don't normally rent out". They did offer us a discount on the room rate. They should have let us stay for free! It was a big hollow storage room with extra furniture stacked. It had faded, stained carpet, outdated decor and a cracked window. The Murphy beds were literally right on the floor. The hair dryer and TV remote didn't work. Especially disturbing – the deadbolt didn’t work. It was in a dark, back corner next to the noisy freeway (Hwy 50). I've stayed in some pretty sketchy places in Eastern Europe but they looked like the Hilton compared to this. At checkout when we complained, the manager said he could have rented that room five times over since it was a holiday and that we needed to pay full price. He was right in our face like a dog with a bone and wouldn’t budge an inch. This man does not have the people skills to be in a management position in a service profession. I left feeling like I was back in middle school getting picked on by the classroom bully. I’m still feeling angry and wronged. We will NEVER stay there again. Quality Inn needs to rethink their association with this poorly managed and rundown motel.
Post Script - To the manager's credit, we weren't sleeping in our car the 2nd night and when our visa bill arrived in the mail, we did get a discount on the second night. However, we were charged more for the rooms than the price quoted when we booked (unless El Dorado County has a 25% tourism tax).

My wife and I stayed here for two nights while on a road trip in the Placerville area. Our arrival was efficient. We were not put off by the hotel's exterior as some reviewers were, but it is a work in progress. Upon arrival, the front desk attendant didn't smile, but reservation was in order and check-in complete. We had requested a ground floor room and was able to park our car right in front. This made for an easy unload and load. Our double queen room was spacious and clean and not too dated decor wise. However, the sink was a slow drain and there was fluctuating water pressure when taking a shower. The vanity is outside the room with shower and toilet, which we like. The air conditioner on a 95 degree day did a good job of cooling the room down quickly. Some road noise was heard from the frontage road, not the freeway. Some muted noise transfer from adjacent room, but not enough to disturb sleep. Wifi signal was consistent and strong. There is a very nice pool and hot tub area and exercise room. The breakfast nook was interesting - very small and linear, five tables, co-mingled with laundry, ice and vending. Menu includes waffles, hard boiled eggs, dry cereal, instant oatmeal, pastries, yogurt, fresh fruit, juice, toast, bagels, coffee (could have been hotter) and ran out of some items without immediate replenishment. The room was lightly attended and the tables not cleaned after each patron's use. The breakfast passed the "more than enough to be satisfying test" - but there is a McDonald's directly across the street if needed and a Starbuck's not too far away. And there are a number of restaurants in the vicinity - fast food and sit down. Check out was quick and efficient with a warm and friendly clerk wishing us well on our way. The hotel met our expectations and we would stay here again.

My husband and I needed a place to stay for one night close to the meeting site for our American River rafting trip the next morning, and there aren't many options past Folsom on Highway 50. We weren't looking for ambiance or luxury, just a comfortable, clean, safe place to spend the night. Overall I think we got what we were looking for. The bed was certainly comfortable. The room was clean. We had no trouble finding a place for a late dinner (Applebee's down the street) and a McDonald's right across the street for a quick breakfast and coffee before our rafting trip the next day. It backs up to Highway 50 but noise was not an issue and we heard nothing through the walls from neighbors in spite of the place appearing to be full or close to it. However, this is a VERY old rundown looking motel (would not call it an "inn" by any stretch of the imagination). In fact, my husband almost refused to stay there when he saw the outside. The person at the front desk was very accommodating in letting us see the room before making a decision. The concrete walkway in front of the second-floor rooms had areas that were raised and uneven like when a tree root disrupts a sidewalk. Seemed very unsafe. There was a picnic table outside one of the first-floor rooms on which someone had left an ashtray full of cigarette butts-kind of tacky. My husband was convinced the person in the room next to us was living there as a truck parked out front looked like it had been filled with all her personal belongings-would not be surprised from the look of this place. The T.V. only had a few channels that came in clearly. It was a newer flat screen so I don't know what the issue was. The hair dryer in the bathroom had this really annoying bright green light on it that could not be shut off and still left a glow in the room even after we threw a towel over it. Fortunately I sleep with an eye mask or that would have been really annoying. We were unable to get the dead bolt to work on the door to the room, which wasn't very comforting since anyone could easily walk off the street, through the parking lot and up to our room door without being noticed. This is a place to crash that is comfortable and clean but don't expect anything else.

I had a conference in Shingle Springs and was so relieved this hotel was close by. It was 105 degrees and the air conditioning worked swell! Next door to fast food, pizza, ice cream, Safeway. Easy access off freeway. Good parking. Looks like the manager is improving the facility by installing a fitness center. Pool area was nice with comfortable tables. Bed had a pillow top mattress, which was a real plus. Large bathroom, with huge vanity/sink area. There was a nice dining room table with 2 chairs and a decent sized work/computer desk. Deluxe continental breakfast started my long day off right. Yes, the breakfast eating area was small, but you could take your food back to your room.

Very comfortable room. Pleasant area-- friendly staff-- small breakfast area. Glass glasses and ceramic cups--- nice touch for me. Squeaky noises from overhead but didn't keep us from sleeping.

After reading reviews for this property, I was hesitant to book it. My fears were unfounded. Everything was fine. The room was typical, the bed comfortable, the shower worked although the head was low, and the air conditioning eventually cooled the place down. The morning breakfast bar was well stocked and the management friendly. The location is good too, because two shopping centers are within walking distance. I'd stay there again. Traffic noise was not too bad, but definitely there.

Very well taken care of and quiet on the second floor. We were there for 10 nights and had no complaints at all. The bathroom had a granite counter top, good shower and the maids were very tuned into our needs when we left them notes and a tip. We always had coffee for the maker and clean towels and whatever we needed.
The breakfast was OK, but nothing special. It was in a tiny room that was 8' wide and 20' long with doors one both ends. It served the purpose.
It was located well to other businesses.

Room Tip: Quiet room on the second floor. We faced the parking area and had no noise problem. Very modern air...
