“What a cute little place!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 8, 2013

We came across this place because of a Travelzoo deal they were running that including dinner, wine and a hot breakfast... what a deal! The grounds were beautiful. I could've wandered through the gardens all day! The food at the restaurant was outstanding! My in-laws and I paid for the exact same room, but their room was double the size! No complaints about our room, though, other than the fairly thin walls and the family stomping around above us. (This is why I always travel with ear plugs!) It was a cute little place I would for sure recommend to others.

Room Tip: Ask for a top floor to avoid hearing people stomping around above you (but keep in mind there might...

My daughter was married at this property ten years ago and we continue to return as a family. Nearby are so many beautiful beaches and hikes we find new ones all the time. The Lodge is comfortable yet casual with gardens to stroll, resident cats to pet and fun entertainment. On the last visit we had the best steak and scallops dinners in a long time. We were very pleased to discover that the food was nicely cooked, rare steak, fresh vegetables well presented and a remarkably reasonable prices for a lovely dinner. This property is not fancy nor is it pricey as online deals come up very often. It is pet friendly and well located for tours to Hearst Castle and wine country. Great bargain.

Room Tip: The newer rooms have less problems but the cheaper ones are roomy and comfortable as well. The staff...

Very nice room with a fireplace, which we used. Dinner in their main lodge was delicious, waiter was excellent and it was an overall great experience. Their breakfast buffet can't be beat, again overlooking the English gardens, beautiful

The Cambria Pines Lodge is a special bit of Central Coast history. The array of rooms is large. They go from small rooms in buildings similar to a Motel to Private Cabins or Suites. The prices are reasonable for the area and amenities. We met friends from San Diego so we could have a special birthday dinner. This was our friends first stay at the Lodge and they got there a day early and ended up staying for 4 nights. We selected the special room and dinner package which is a tremendous value. The deal includes the room, 2 dinner entree's, a bottle of house wine and full buffet breakfast the following morning. The food was very good, service superior and the Nursery which is part of the grounds is worth a trip by itself. Our room was a large suite with 2 fireplaces and a balcony overlooking the foothills. Before breakfast we watched the deer feed right below our room. All of this for just over $150.00. This will be our go to place for a quick get away since we live less than an hour away.

Room Tip: We would suggest paying extra for the larger rooms if your budget allows but you can stay in the sma...

This is the second time I've stayed here. The gardens & grounds are gorgeous! The rooms are spacious. The dinners are EXCELLENT! The town of Cambria is very charming and the hundreds to thousands of elephant seals on the beach are only 7 miles away. Hearst Castle is about 6 miles away. It is a great stopping point between Northern & Southern California. If you're tired of driving the I-5, take the coast route in Spring when everything is green. It is breathtaking!

Stayed here on a travelzoo promotion which really made the value amazing! We had a large 'suite' which was good as far as size, two fireplaces, a sitting room with murphy bed and pull out couch, small fridge. It would work for a group to stay in bevause of the ample space but it wasnt the best for staying IN the room to relax. Needs major renovations and you could hear people loudly in the surrounding lodging. The bed was good though. So we slept fine and went out most of the day anyway.

The promo included a free dinner and bottle of wine at the cambria pines restaurant, which was surprisngly good. Our filets were cooked perfectly and the wine was local and very good. The promo also included free breakfast which was at the same restaurant. The atmosphere outside by the gardens was amazing for enjoying the buffet breakfast. The gardens on property are gorgeous and worth checking out. The paths and trails were awesome also. The pool and hot tub was always crowded but good to have. We got an hour in the hot tub to ourselves before it filled up on night one.

Also amazing was the bar at the lodge. Wr saw a great band friday night, so we had a great time and walked back to the room after.

The promo also included a free entree at linns famous restaurant in cambria. So worth it..their dinner was amazing. Perfection. Even the lemonade was amazing. And they are world famous for their pie, so thatbis a must!

The promo also included 7 free wine tastings in the area and also paso robles. So worth it. Paso robles is gorgeous and we loved seeing all the wineries in the country, away from city center. We loved sculpterra, cass, harmony cellars and wild horse winery. Just breathtaking. The drive over highway 46 is amazingly beautiful as well.

Cambrias moonstone beach and friscelli beach parks are so gorgeous with long pathways and amazing views. Worth the long walks!

...but wouldn't choose it for couples. Or those interested in a more upscale experience. First the good points. The Lodge was a good spot for our girls' weekend away, with the large suite the right size for four of us. The Sojourn Spa on the grounds offered wonderful massages and facials. The grounds were in full bloom in late March and I could see how wedding parties would choose this spot for its romantic backdrop and ability to house many guests. The Lounge features live music and it was fun to people gaze while downing a beer. The pricing is very reasonable and even more so if you can catch a Groupon or Travelzoo.
BUT, the rooms are tired. 'Rustic' is gilding the lily. Both the toilet and the sink were plugged up while we were there. The free breakfast was not special in any way, though it was filling. The second morning we were there, we skipped it and went into town to eat.
Cambria is a lovely place for a weekend getaway, but if I were coming back with my husband I would definitely stay on Moonstone Beach. The boardwalk there is the perfect place to view the rugged California coast.
