“Beautiful Gardens”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 10, 2012

My husband and I recently stayed at the hotel for one night. Staff was friendly and the grounds were amazing. I love all the gardens and it was nice to explore them. So many great places to sit and read a book and relax. As said in other reviews the cheaper section of the hotel had thin walls but the room we had was clean and nice. We were in a lower level room but could right away hear the people above us. We asked if we could be moved to a second level room but there were none available in our price range. But they upgraded us to a suite room with a bedroom living room combo. It was awesome. The forest view and balcony was an extra bonus! If you are on a budget ask for a second story room. But if you can afford it, the suites were amazing. Service was friendly and the lounge was a great place to have a drink.

Room Tip: for the cheaper rooms ask for a second story because you can hear every move of the people above you...

This is a beautiful lodge in a wooded setting with lots of garden paths to wonder. We stayed here on a Room/Dinner package that included 2 Off the Menu Dinners & a bottle of wine. They include Breakfast the next morning as well! After Dinner there is a nice lounge with sofa's and great local live entertainment to enjoy. This was our 2nd visit here and we genuinely enjoy going out for a wonderful Dinner with wine while having everything paid for except a well deserved gratuity. They have room types for any budget and I think almost all rooms have fireplaces so winter stays are warm and cozy also. This place does a great job! It's also nice to not be nickle & dimed and take a break from fees also! No Resort, Parking or Internet fees. Can't wait to come back and stay longer!

Room Tip: Suites tend to be a little quieter as there are less per building and deluxe suites are individual b...

Cambria Pines Lodge is an institution on the Central Coast. I remember visiting there as a child with my parents. But Cambria Pines has grown up, and now its grounds are even prettier, the restaurant better and the lodging delightful. We had a slight handicap, my husband had recently broken his ankle and is limited to a wheelchair and/or walker. We needed a handicapped room and we wished to have our registered therapy dog with us. Cambria Pines gave us a lovely room suite with two fireplaces all wheelchair accessible, on a first floor. The units at the lodge are either two story or one story, some with balconies, some with small patios. The room was very clean, when the fireplace wouldn't start an hotel staff person was there immediately to relight the pilot light and have it operational. There are many trails and gardens throughout the grounds and our dog enjoyed her on leash walks, and was so startled when deer walked by our unit she forgot to bark. (I think she thought they were tan Doberman's with spots, she really wanted to run with them. She was not given that option.) We also dined at the hotel restaurant, which was excellent. The room came with a buffet breakfast of scrambled eggs, sausage, fried potatoes, juices, coffee, yogurt, muffins, toast and one day pancakes. You could eat on the outdoor patio (some tables were in niches with outdoor fireplaces) with your dog, which we chose to do for breakfast. A friend recommended we visit the lodge and we would recommend it to others. This is also a great family place, lots of room for children to play, run, enjoy hide and seek or just explore the gardens. (There is also a pool and spa, which we did not use.)

Room Tip: I don't think there is a bad room at the lodge. If you wish more privacy, you might request a r...

I discovered when one books in Cambria you have two choices- the ocean or otherwise. Our first choice (Sea Otter Inn) was booked as we decided at the last minute a road trip to Cambria. While searching for a room on the internet, the Cambria Pines Inn popped up and were we absolutely delighted with our stay and can't wait to book again! The inn is off highway 1 up a fairly steep hill nestled in the pine trees. A walk around the property revealed beautiful and well kept landscaping. There is a pool but we did not use it.We booked the two room, two bath unit, each room with its own fireplace. The living room had a a true Murphy bed that was comfy so said my friend. The back bedroom had a nice balcony surronded by pine trees that gave us a true feeling of privacy. We really appreciated the near by parking! The room was cozy and cute with tastefully mis matched furniture- plenty of storage and very nice bathrooms! The breakfast that was included in the price was a very good buffet with fresh fruit- eggs - and all the good stuff that goes with it.

Room Tip: Read the reviews posted by other travelers. Sometimes the seond floor (or third) of older buildings...

We went on a Monday at the end of August, for a package that included a night's stay, two dinner entrees, a bottle of wine and a buffet breakfast. The room was nice and included a fireplace and a pressed log. The grounds were pretty with several gardens. There was a lounge with live music. It was great to go into the lounge after dinner and listen to the music. The dinner was excellent and the wine was good. We were able to order two entrees off the menu. The breakfast buffet was good. The weather was fabulous. There was a pool and hot tub and people there enjoying it. We joined friends there and had a great time. We definitely plan to return again! A terrific value!

I discovered a deal online and booked as I've never been to Cambria, and we wanted to see Hearst Castle (10 min. drive, if that). Although the property is close to the beach, it is nestled up on a hill surrounded by pine trees. It feels like you're in the forest, not near a beach. The beach is not walking distance.

We checked in, drove around to the room, a Large Suite with a front room (dining table, fireplace, pull-out couch, and a pull-down Murphy bed), a walk through area with a sink, mirror, ready-room (separate toilet room), and a large bedroom with a bigger fireplace, and of course, a large balcony. The suite that we had was located in a four-unit building--2 up, 2 down. They are like, or in fact are, mountain homes. They were not in pristine condition, but were very nice.

We went out on the balcony upon arrival and saw a deer just below us. The grounds are clean and very well manicured. There is a garden area in front with numerous sections. They are separated by high hedges, private, and are sort of like a maze. Not in a challenge-type of way, but rather in beautiful sections, each different. It was very relaxing for us.

The restaurant had very good entrees and the wine was nice. The pool was warm and refreshing.

We walked the nature trail down to town, it's a little bit of a hike, especially down and later up the wooden stairs, but we really enjoyed being out in the wilderness, the smell of the outdoors, and we brought home fallen pine cones.

Cambria is small and quaint. Lots of artistic items and large antique stores.

We loved it, and would definitely stay again. Thanks CPL.

Room Tip: We enjoyed the Large Suite - Upstairs.
