“No WIFI!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 22, 2013 via mobile

We stayed two nights at the b&B. The lady who welcomed us at the entrance did her job,but lacked a great bit of friendliness.
The next day when the owner ,John took over the atmosphere was warm and friendly. The room was cosy and clean. The bathroom needed a bit of refurbishment. But what we really disapproved of that nowhere was mentioned there was no wifi available. This is 2013 we're living in! Ok it was mentioned there was no tv nor telephone and we can live with that, but just not mentioning on your website no Wifi. When we mentioned it to the lady-employee who welcomed us,she was utmost surprised! First time somebody asked her for internet she said.

My wife and I recently stayed one night at J Patrick House B & B following a visit to Hearst Castle. The B & B was quiet, romantic, and had beautiful rooms. The owners gave us a delicious hearty breakfast and gave us good advice for that days trip up the coast through Bib Sur. Recommendations for a place to dine were very good also. We hope to return and enjoy this B & B in the future.

We recently stayed at the J Patrick Inn for one night.
Our stay was perfect. We arrived late in the evening and there were cookies and milk welcoming us. The room was spacious but cozy. The fireplace in our room was very romantic and cozy as well. The next morning, the included breakfast was delicious and a great start to our continued journey down Highway 1. We will definitely return!

My beautiful wife and I stayed one night at the J. Patrick House during a road trip from San Francisco to San Diego for Thanksgiving. It was a brief but very pleasant stay.

We arrived after a day of driving and touring Hearst Castle (an attraction which I highly recommend). The innkeeper was friendly and informative, with recommendations for dinner and driving directions around Cambria. We had made it just in time for wine & hors d'oeuvres in the lounge area, which included cheese, crackers and some perfectly drinkable wine to accompany the small-talk of our fellow patrons.

We stayed in the Kerry Room, which we found to be satisfactorily standard for a B&B room. It was clean and had all of the few amenities we needed. It did have a wood-burning stove, of which we made full use. The room was upstairs in the carriage house, but due to the residential location of the inn, there wasn't much of a view available.

The dinner recommendation was helpful. We ate at Robin's, after a bit of a stroll around the East Village area, which included a very entertaining wine tasting at the shop / wine bar Fermentations. Other than Hearst Castle, our visit to Fermentations was probably the highlight of our time in Cambria.

On our return to the inn, we found the late-night cookies quite to our liking. We also enjoyed the next morning's hot breakfast.

J. Patrick House provides exactly what you'd expect from a expertly-run bed & breakfast, and we found our stay to be of excellent value. The only real down-side to the place is the location, which is far enough from the rest of the town that you can't reasonably walk anywhere for entertainment, dining or shopping.

This was our first visit to the J. Patrick House. We found the Inn to be most delightful and charming from the moment we walked in the door. We were forunate to have discovered three other couples traveling together from South Orange County and had a delightful evening discussing a 40 year history of our neighborhood and mutual acquaintences during the wine and cheese evening gathering. The accomodations are quaint, very modern and very quiet. The staff were cordial and helpful in guiding us to attractions in and around the neighborhood. We highly recommend this B and B as one of the best and plan to return often.

We've stayed at J. Patrick House four times now, including one night of our honeymoon. It never disappoints. The staff is always so friendly, enthusiastic and helpful. The livingroom - where wine and cheese are served - always cozy. The rooms are quaint with wood-burning fireplaces, and fresh-made cookies await you when you return in the evening for bed. Breakfast is always yummy - homemade granola, scones, souffles or french toast. Thoroughly charming every time.

Room Tip: All of the rooms are nice, but for a little bit more, take the big room in the main house - extra sw...

My husband, two adult daughters, and I had a wonderful stay at J Patrick House this past July. When we got back to New England, I was quickly distracted with work and politics, but it is a tribute to the fine experience of our visit that I am writing these comments just before year's end, not wanting the calendar to turn over without commenting. The house is charmingly decorated, the rooms spacious and comfortable, the wine and cheese party fun and welcoming, and the breakfast was generous, healthy, and delicious! There are even hot cocoa and cookies to enjoy before retiring for the night! We will recommend J Patrick House to all friends who plan to travel along the California coast and would like a gracious and reasonably priced place to stay.

Room Tip: We had the convenience of first floor rooms, but the house adjacent to the main house has only two f...
