I have to wonder about some of these reviewers. Microwaved food? That's absurd, assuming you've ordered from the menu & not from the to-go case. We have eaten many, many lunches & dinners here over the years. The food is superb. It is small, yes. Also casual - wine comes in jar glasses, not goblets. The service can be slow, but so what? What's the rush? Order a drink & an appetizer, sit back, & relax. Otherwise, why are you even in Cambria? If you want speed, go somewhere else. No, it's not cheap, but most good, quality food isn't cheap. It's what one would expect to pay in such a restaurant, IMHO. The lemon pudding cake is to die for, as are the Asian inspired chile rellenos, a regularly featured special. We've never been disappointed with a meal at the Wild Ginger Cafe.

Traveling trough the seaside scenic village of Cambria, CA off Route 1, 20 miles south of Big Sur, travelers must take time to stop and eat Asian cuisine at the charming and cosy restaurant Wild Ginger in East Village. This small, friendly and inexpensive restaurant provides a nice chance to enjoy a variety of delicious Asian foods that are prepared by Asians. The menu is extensive and daily specials make use of locally fresh produce. The proprietor and host is cordial, kind, humorous and treats all diners as if she knew them for years.

Stayed a night in Cambria while checking out Hearst Castle. Decided on dinner at Wild Ginger. What a good choice it turned out to be. I started out with an appetizer of lamb curry in a puffed pastry, which was quite large for a $4 appetizer. For entrees, my wife got caramelized shrimp from the menu and I ordered a pork chop entree from the specials board. We were both blown away by the food....perfectly done, great flavors, huge variety on each plate. I have nothing to compare this restaurant to in Cambria, as this was our only night in town, but I would never dine anywhere else in Cambria based on this experience.

As far as some of the other mediocre reviews, I would strongly disagree with most of them. Sounds like some picky people. This place is TOP NOTCH!! If you're in Cambria, have dinner at Wild Ginger!

This one was a real disappointment. Too expensive and mediocre, at best.

For the last few years this has been my favorite restaurant for dinner in CAMBRIA. Love the atmosphere, small, not very many tables inside and just a few tables outside, lots of collected treasures from Thailand, Hong Kong etc... The chef and owner usually always comes out and speaks to each of the diners which I really like- I like that she cares and is so hands on !! THe menu has thai dishes and other asian inspired dishes using local produce and fresh ingredients. The chalkboard has daily specials, but this time the menu had fewer thai entries and I fear the menu was leaning a bit to more comfort foods like chicken, steak and potatoes type entrees. No pad thai was on the menu, we asked and the waitress said the menu changes ... so hope that this was the case this time... I would hate to see all the best things on the menu disappear. The TomYum soup with coconut milk is excellent and any items on the chalkboard are a must !! We were there on Memorial Day weekend and we were able to get an inside table and enjoyed the mango rolls and a chicken salad with a thai peanut dressing which was excellent, The salmon special with fingerling potatoes and a mango slaw was very tasty !! And if you have room the sorbet like deserts are the best !! We had a very tasty dinner but we are concerned that the menu's ASIAN THAI offerings are getting more and more limited... We hope this restaurant stays true to its original focus !!
