“Wow! Impressed---Delicious”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 7, 2008

For whatever reason I had not made any dinner reservations for our recent stay in Cambria. No restaurant really stood out in the crowd while I was reviewing them but we had narrowed it down. Well....so glad we chose to eat at Sow's Ear. This was far 1 of the best meals we had during our 2 week California trip.

The bread is baked inside a flowerpot...who would have thought...and it was yummy. My husband and I both ordered the pork tenderloin with olallieberry chutney sauce...OMG...it was delicious. Unlike some restaurants we went to you really get alot of food for your money and reasonably priced to boot. The service was very good.

We will go back to Sow's Ear when we return to this area. Wonderful, wonderful evening.

“A good dinner”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 18, 2008

Had a good dinner here with our 2 teenage girls and enjoyed the experience including bread baked in a flower pot. They eat early in cambria and we were one of the last to leave at around 8.30pm and booking is a good idea. We had a variety of dishes including cat fish , very tender pork, and shephered's pie.

“WOW This was amazing food!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 6, 2008

We went to Cambria in August 2008 and happened to walk past this restaurant and give it a try. We were sooooo glad we did. The food was amazing. The service was great too.

You have to try their flowerpot bread - unique and yummy!

The price was a little high but well worth it!

“Disappointing”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed June 16, 2008

If guests enjoy the food at the Sow’s Ear, I honestly suspect they don’t dine out very much. We found this menu to be over-priced and the food disappointingly under-whelming. We are not food snobs, but this food is mediocre. After a long Friday of sightseeing, and discovering we couldn’t get reservations that evening at Robins (as almost every local shop owner had recommended) so we took a chance on a quiet relaxing dinner at this cute little café. The décor was nice, the restaurant was clean, the host and the staff were very friendly, but the food was poor.

The evening started off promising with a very delicious and remarkable deep fried brie cheese appetizer topped with toasted almonds served with an onion tapenade, sliced green apples, and warm sliced baguette. I ordered the “second most popular entrée”, chicken and dumpling, and my partner ordered salmon what arrived in an unusual edge burned paper wrapping. Both were served with a vegetable medley that was barely steamed. The single dumpling white chicken chunks and were swimming a soup bowl of over salted white gravy, not at all like “Grandma used to make” as the menu described. This was a very disappointing dinner experience after experiencing an amazing day seeing the sights along the beautiful California coast.

“Wonderful food and service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 29, 2008

My wife and I dined here in late April after a visit to Hearst Castle. The welcome, service and food were all first class. We were able to order from either a regular menu or the "early bird" menu. Items on the early bird menu were only slightly less expensive. I had the Shepard's Pie and my wife had the Fishermen;s Stew. Both were delicious and reasonably priced. The wine list is interesting with several local entries. Service was excellent. I heartily recommend the Sow's Ear to any one seeking good food with lots of ambiance. We will go again when in the area
