“Coastal History”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 19, 2013

A nice historical visit at Piedras Blancas Light House. You'll pay $10 for a tour which takes you through a guided tour of the grounds along w/ a brief lesson on local sea life. Fun to learn about the local history.

“Not a drop-in tourist attraction”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed September 4, 2012

If you want to visit the light house, do your research for they only have tours on a certain days at 10am. Per their website "Public tours of the Piedras Blancas Light Station are offered September 1 through June 14 on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday at 10 a.m.

Guided tours are the only public access to the station because of sensitive resource concerns and ongoing restoration activities.

From June 15 through August 31 tours are offered Monday - Saturday at 10 am.

There are no tours on federal holidays.

Tours last 2 hours and feature the historic lighthouse, support buildings, wildlife, plants and spectacular coastal scenery along an easy ½ mile interpretive trail. Wear comfortable walking shoes and dress warmly. Please no pets!
Small children should be carried or placed in a stroller." As long as 10am meets with your schedule, it could be worth the stop.

“Foggy Lighthouse”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 21, 2012

We visited over Father's Day weekend and the lighthouse was not open for tours. Gate was locked at the highway so access for a closer view was not an option. Looked like it would have been a nice place to visit. Grounds looked well maintained from what we could see. Visit in the afternoon after the fog burns off ...
