“Best customer sevice hands down.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 11, 2011

After raving to friends about this hotel, they decided to try it out for their Honeymoon. I called the hotel to let them know that they'd be coming on our recommendation....

I was fortunate enough to reach Thomas at the front desk. He went above and beyond the call of duty to make ensure their special trip would be memorable.

Hands down we will be returning as his customer service was beyond fantastic.

The property is casual, comfortable and very well-maintained with pretty landscaping and a front row seat for the ocean and the Moonstone Beach walkway. A few minutes' walk takes you to a couple of restaurants, and it's a short drive into town. The staff are helpful and friendly.

The big rooms have mini-fridges, microwaves and free Wi-Fi, and heat is supplied by gas fireplaces. The property style feels a little dated, but this lends a nice funkiness. Rooms open to the parking lot motor-court style, and noise from guests outside transmits plainly into the rooms. The complimentary buffet breakfast has better-than-average pastries (these taste bakery-fresh, not packaged), sausage, scrambled eggs and waffles. Juice is from one of those dilution machines, however, and the breakfast room can get busy.

Room Tip: Some have sea views, some of the parking lot

Overall: The room here was clean and comfy. They provide nice amenities such as microwave, nice fridge, gas fireplace, and bathrobes. The bed was comfy, not brand new, but nothing to complain about there. The room was a bit stuffy. In part, because the fan in the bathroom didn't do the best job. Opening the windows though solves this problem. Many guests actually leave their doors open during the evening. The breakfast was good, not amazing, but totally decent. The pool is fine, nothing fancy, but again nothing to complain about.

The Positive: The staff here was great. They immediately responded to all my requests and needs. The other major plus was the cleanliness of the room. I'm pretty picky about this, and I had no complaints.

The Negative: The only negative aspect of this place was the noise. Our first night here I could hear the tv's and conversations of both my neighbors. Additionally, when people walk by your rooms talking you can easily hear them through the windows. I wouldn't complain about this issue, but for 170 - 200 a night, I expect it to be quiet. When I complained about this the staff offered a bit of a discount for the room and also a fan to create white noise. The staff had no attitude about this and were very understanding.

I wouldn't pay full price for this hotel, but if you can get a a good rate or if you go in the off season, it's worth it.

This is the second time I have stayed at the Fog Catcher Inn and had a great experience again. The staff is wonderful and welcoming. Our room was clean with luxury linens and a fireplace which keeps the room so cozy. The room was standard and not the newest, but nicely decorated and comfortable. The complimentary breakfast was also done very nicely with make your own waffles, eggs, fruit, sausages and great coffee. It is a short walk to the Moonstone Bar & Grill which had very good food. Not much nightlife in Cambria, we listened to some live music, but this town is better for relaxation. Nice and clean large hot tub and heated swimming pool also- a great place for a weekend rest!

We just returned from a trip to the central coast for wine tasting. This was our 2nd visit to the FogCatcher and it is a really great hotel right across from the ocean. The weather was rainy and cool so we didn't open our windows, but in better weather you could easily do that and hear the ocean at night. The rooms are very cozy with gas fireplaces, comfy beds and the added convenience of a small fridge, microwave and coffee maker. They use good quality Santa Barbara Roasting Company coffee which we really appreciated. At check in they offer freshly baked oatmeal raisin cookies...very yummy. On our second day, we walked over to the lobby in late afternoon and begged and they gave us several bags ;-). For breakfast lovers they serve an extensive breakfast in their lovely dining room...it's self serve but includes scrambled eggs, sausage, fresh pastries, bagels, English muffins, yogurt, fruit, juices and wonderful waffles. Such a nice way to start the day, whether you're driving up the road to Hearst Castle or headed off for the vineyards. You can't go wrong with this hotel...and the prices are so reasonable. We also highly recommend Madeline's on Main Street for a lovely dinner. The hotel has cards that will give you a free appetizer or 1/2 off on a bottle of wine.

This cozy inn makes sure you feel special and they truly appreciate your loyalty when you come back. The front desk greets you with a "Welcome back!" They will make sure you get your favorite room, cookies after 3pm, and sometimes will surprise you with a bottle of wine. The rooms are fresh and clean. They provide an outstanding breakfast from 7 to 11am included in the price of the room. The views of the ocean are almost from every room and you can hear the waves crashing at night! Walk across the street and you're walking along the ocean! They have fabulous online specials. I plan to keep staying at the Fogcatcher Inn for many more trips ahead.

This is was our 2nd visit to the fog catcher inn and it won't be our last. The rooms are very generous in size, the location is perfect, very well priced rooms, the service and staff are excellent. This is a wonderful, cozy and quaint hotel across the street from the beach. I love the proximity to Cambria as well as to Paso Robles. The breakfast in the morning is very good and when we checked in we received a wonderful bottle of wine. This is a wonderful hotel that we look forward to returning too time and time again.
