“A nice stay in Calistoga”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 16, 2013

We stayed at the Best Western in Calistoga for 2 nights on our last stop of our trip through California.

The room was spacious and clean, as was the bathroom. The bed was very comfortable.
Our room faced the road and we were woken up by some construction work going on just beyond it, but this is of course not the hotel's fault.

We liked the inner court (sunny and nice place to read) as well as the pool area.

The latter is however covered partially by some the trees that brought on two disadvantages: In the afternoon, the sun is quite limited in the pool area due to the shade it gives, and leaves and twigs fall frequently into the pool. This gives it a slightly neglected look, but the water was fine of course.

The breakfast was basic, but quite good (The pancake machine was great ^^)

You can walk comfortably to Calistoga Center, which is an advantage if you want to taste some more wine in the evening.

All in all, we were quite happy with our stay and the value you get at a reasonable price.

Room Tip: 2nd floor rooms are worth the extra dollars. Try to get a room that is not facing a road.

This was our 4th trip to Napa Valley. We have stayed in a B&B and also hotels. Good accommodations do not come cheaply. While we paid much more than the $89 quoted by one reviewer, the rates for the Stevenson Manor were very reasonable compared to most. It's a small Best Western, almost like an inn. The rooms are very large. The bathrooms are huge. Extremely comfortable beds with nice linens. The small refrigerator and microwave were a welcome bonus. Wine glasses, (glass, not plastic), and a corkscrew were thoughtful additions considering the main focus of Napa Valley. I am extremely picky when it comes to cleanliness. Our room and the surrounding areas, including a charming enclosed patio section, passed with flying colors. We had a second floor room with a small deck overlooking the mountains. Costs a bit more, but worth it. One morning we awoke to find two hot air balloons had landed in a field right outside our window! Pretty cool. We would stay here again in a minute.

Room Tip: Second floor, facing the mountains. Very quiet.

The staff was very helpful. We have stayed in Calistoga at two other places. They were over priced for what they offered. The BW room was large, clean and had a nice bathroom. There was a small fridge and complimentary coffee maker and coffee in the room. My husband enjoyed the pool area and the steam room. There was a well kept patio area outside our room that was nice for relaxing and reading. We were in walking distance of town. The complimentary breakfast offered many choices. The hostess Wanda was friendly and helpful. We would not hesitate to stay there again.

Room Tip: We had a first floor room of the patio and it was quiet.

I would like to express my special appreciation to the help of the staff at the hotel. On the day we left the Napa Valley, we drove to Carmel only to open the trunk of our car and found that my son's suitcase was not there. He recalled that he left it in the lobby. I called the hotel, and they found it and agreed to post it to our last stop in the US - New York City. My son was thrilled to see him suitcase at the hostel we booked in New York.

In addition to the special help, the hotel itself is very well located in the laid-back Calistoga with very well maintained rooms, within walking distance to the town center.

It was a nice hotel if you are looking for a place to sleep while visiting Napa Valley. It is about 30 miles out of Napa which ends up being almost an hour long drive along the two lane highway. We stayed here for the free breakfast but it was not great. Great place to stay if looking for a bed in a small town.

I recently stayed at the Best Western in Calistoga with for a girl's trip to Napa. We were coming from Sonoma and just staying one night in Napa. All 3 of us were pleasantly surprised with the hotel. The room was very large, clean and comfortable. We loved the pool area. The breakfast has a good selection and Wanda who takes care of the breakfast area was our favorite. So friendly and helpful! Although the hotel is not right in the center of town we could easily walk to dinner. The best part was the price! Hotels in Napa can be quite expensive but the Best Western in Calistoga is a great rate and just as good as other pricier places I've stayed in Napa in the past.

The Stevenson Manor is an attractive, clean property on the east end of Calistoga. Our room was spacious and well designed. Our only complaint was the noisy cooling system. The fan was set on high, and couldn't be adjusted. So when it kicked on at night, it woke us up. Two suggestions to prospective guests: 1) Request a room on the NE/E side of the property in order to minimize traffic noise. 2) If you need a rollaway bed, request two mattresses. That helped our daughter get a good night's sleep.
