“Superb place to stay!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 25, 2008

Stayed here for two nights at the start of August as part of our first trip to California. Really was a great experience. Everything, from the moment we arrived and Philip presented the cheese and wine in the garden to the moment we left we experienced true relaxation! Beautiful room, charming hosts...and the breakfasts!!!!! Just stunning!!! Thanks guys!!!

My wife and I enjoyed 4 nights at Chateau de Vie at the end of July. We arrived on a Tuesday after spending a few days in San Francisco. Phillip and Peter could not have better hosts. The food was amazing. Phillip said he had not gone to the culinary insitue, but he has taken breakfast to a whole new level. There is always fresh squeezed OJ, and then fresh fruit, and then the main breakfast, which was always creative, and very very good. One day we had asparagus wrapped in prociutto, baked with bread crumbs, then topped with 2 eggs over easy and some pamaesan cheese. Another day we had waffels made with corn meal, topped with fresh blueberries. We never ate lunch becasue the breakfasts were so big, and so good. They really gave you a good base to drink wine on top of all day.

The house is beautiful. Nicely decorated. The room we had was not big, but very comfortable with a very nice private bath that had a view of the vineyard out the window. Great to wake up and brush your teeth to. The deck is shaded, nice funiture, and good for either socializing or having your time alone. We enjoyed the pool and hot tub also.

There is always wine available, and a cheese plate in the afternoon if you want it. We loved it at this place and can not wait to go back.

A slice of heaven on earth. From the moment my boyfriend and I were greeted with glasses of wine and a cheese plate to the fresh laundry smell of the towels, not a single detail was left unturned. It was our first trip to Calistoga and surely not to be our last. The breakfast each morning was delicious, the surrounding vineyard was breathtaking and the morning coffee delivered each morning was tantalizing. Everything Peter and Phillip do encourages their guests to linger and relax. We stayed in the Carriage House Suite, it was so romantic and very private. I am already looking at dates to return.

My husband and I have been to Chateau de Vie several times. It is our favorite place to stay when we want to get away. The owners have an understated elegance and made us feel immediately at home. The grounds (nestled in Napa Valley and surrounded by vineyards) could easily be in Italy's Perugia region. It's a great place to go biking, wine tasting (of course!), or to just sit in the cozy living room in front of a roaring fire. Felipe is a great cook, and the eggs benedict were to die for! We can't wait to go back!

If you miss this one, you will miss probably the best B&B in Calistoga or wine country. From check-in to check-out our stay was 100% PERFECT. My wife and I along with another couple stayed 3 nights in this beautiful French style Inn while we toured the Calistoga area. Our accomodations in the Carriage House, which I highly recommend, were more like a small cottage away from the main inn. The French doors opened out to a small porch overlooking the lush vineyards, literally a few feet from the foot of our king size bed. The room was spacious, beautifully furnished and spotless. The exterior grounds and garden were absolutely beautiful. The Inn is situated well off the main road so the atmosphere is very quite and peaceful. The beautiful pool area is secluded and relaxing. So much so, that we spent one afternoon by the pool sipping wine and eating lunch. The main ingredient that made this stay special was the Hostess, Terri. We have stayed in many fantastic B&Bs throughout the world, but have never been treated with such professional courtesy and devotion to duty as Terri provided, and always with a great smile. And, her breakfasts were the best we had in our 10 day stay in California. She is truely a GEM! I do not write reviews on every place we stay, only the ones that deserve special recognition. CDV is at the top of that list.

My husband and I stayed at CDV for three days of our vacation and we loved everything about it. The Chateau was tastefully decorated, hospitable and accomodating staff, gourmet breakfasts, clean rooms, and beautiful ambiance. We especially enjoyed relaxing by the heated pool with our complimentary wine and cheese plate. We stayed in Napa for a week and our stay at the CDV was the best three days of our trip!

We return to CDV over and over and over and over. Can't find a better B&B experience, or any better experience, in Calistoga! Peter and Phillip are hosts above and beyond. We love them. A&B xo
