Just returned to cold New England after a delightful short week in California - topped off with three nights at the Foothill House. This was our first stay after several aborted attempts (our problems not the Foothill House) and it was absolutely delightful. The property is compact but every room (and yes we got to tour all of them) is spacious with plenty of sitting room, ouside patios and/or decks, and kitchen facilitites. We stayed in the Quail's Roost, a cottage up the hill from the main house. Spacious, clean, warm, a jacuzzi tub with it's own waterfall, a gas fireplace that opens to both the sitting area and the bathroom. If you are nice to Darla, she'll even let you drive the golf cart up the hill to the Roost. Speaking of Darla, she is an absolute deight, friendly, attentive to your every need, an incredible cook (the scrambled eggs and french toast breakfasts were to die for), and your own private tour guide. We had to leave early on the last day and without asking a breakfast "tote" appeared with fresh muffins, fruit, and juice for our early departure. Can't say enough about this place - stay there, you will not be disappointed.
