“Lovely place to stay in Calistoga!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 24, 2013

I stayed at Solage shortly after they opened a few years ago and just stayed again this month. The property has grown into a lovely area. The landscaping has really blossomed and the outdoor restaurant area is a great place to have breakfast, lunch, drinks and dinner. Their food is delicious and the service is very good. I love the location because it's very close to Calistoga and not very far from St. Helena. Their rooms are very large with excellent amenities. I didn't use their spa this trip but I did my first stay and it was great. My only complaint is that there is a lot of space in all of the rooms with not very much shelving in the bathroom (2 rooms). Wish they could put up some shelves and hooks in the one of the two bathrooms!

We had a great experience booking our elopement at Solage Calistoga. Kristen made our day easy and stress free which is all we wanted. It was beautiful and intimate. She also helped coordinate our weekend at the hotel. We couldn't have been happier with the multiple spa treatments, pool service, food, bikes the hotel provided. rides through wine country in the convertible Mercedes available for use, and all the friendly staff that made every second of our stay enjoyable. We are planning to come back here every year for our anniversary!

For our 10th anniversary, my husband and I booked a Double Your Leisure package at Solage. We stayed in Santa Rosa and drove in (about 30 minutes, nice drive) in the morning. We had a nice breakfast at Solbar, their restaurant, and then went in for our treatments. Both of our massages were fantastic. The couples mud treatment was also awesome. We got to choose our own aromatherapy oils, and we were given a private room for two. Once the treatment is over, you just flip a switch and lay there while water showers down from the ceiling and rinses it off. It was really quite an experience! After that we had a soak in the mineral water, followed by a nap in a special chair with special music. :) We also LOVED the geothermal pools and lovely poolside service, where we ordered some refreshing cocktails. Part of the package was a free lunch at their restaurant, which was quite good. This was a beautiful day for us!

I would have given them five stars but will explain shortly.

First, this place is perfect for family, friends or solo travel, which is normally a challange for even the most diversafied establishments. However, with the super freindly and helpful staff, the variety of appointments e.g. main pool for family, friends and noise makers, Bath house for the more quiet and reserved amoung us and an added women or men only bath areas, you had your pick depending on what you were in the mood for. It did not hurt that you could borrow a convertable MB to drive around the valley, beautiful! The restaurant did not dissapoint. Niether did room service. Having a bike at my disposal was perfect for the location. Also John my massage therapist knew where the stress was hiding and how to alleviate! yea..The house CabS was very good as was the quality of gym equipment and Pilates class instructor. The Mudslide was ok.

The minus star was for: the bikes were rusty and dirty, which would have been fine if i did not have to be creative about how to clean it. The cob webs on the patio. You have to rent a car to get here (tip: rent the least expensive then negotiate when you arrive) and try not to arrive or depart duing rush hours when a two hour trip will become five! The town of Calostoga was "interesting", truly a make up your own mind about it, type of setting.

Room Tip: Rooms are practical and clean, just don't expect a view beyond dead grass and someones back yard...

Solage Calistoga is an absolutely amazing place! We spent two days there and wished we could have extended our stay. From the spa where we had mud treatments, to the bikes we rode into town, to the fabulous wine we tasted next door (Lava, do NOT miss it) and across the street (B Cellars, great too)... Solage was the perfect place to spend a few days to relax and decompress from our busy lives. The room was one of the nicest we've ever had at a hotel... completely private with our own patio to enjoy, beautiful bath area, comfortable king-sized bed... we even fell in love with the robes! I can't say enough about how much we loved our time here, which I'm sure you will, too.

We were vacationing in Napa, then down to San Fran for a week... We started our trip at Spa Solage and Solbar for lunch and a couples massage... We spent the next few days talking about how awesome Solage was, so we cut our San Fran leg of the trip short and spent our last two nights back up at Solage... What a fantastic place. Loved the bikes outside the door. We actually had to do a room change for our second night because we booked off of someone's cancellation, and all rooms were booked... You can not believe how seamless the room change was... We borrowed one of the convertible Mercedes when we checked out of room #1, a bellman picked up all of our items, and when we were finished touring around the area in the convertible, room #2 was ready, and our items were brought to us... Next time, we are skipping San Fran and coming directly to Solage. Food is fantastic, and the spa is fab. Wish we could have stayed longer. The only negative is that the blinds over the window don't allow the room to be completely dark once the sun starts to peak up...and I love to sleep in complete darkness... Other than that, Solage is PERFECT!!

Room Tip: some rooms are totally stand alone, some are semi attached.

The Solage more than met our expectations! Beautiful and tranquil grounds with a modern/Eco-friendly vibe. The bungalows were spacious and had every amenity at your fingertips. There were 2 bikes at our bungalow for us to use during our stay. My husband and I both took advantage of the spa where we each had wonderful massages and facials. We dined at SolBar for lunch at it was delicious. The only thing that I could do without, but I noticed at other places in Napa, were the spiders. The little critters seemed to pop up everywhere. We are looking forward to returning Solage...we loved it!
