“Very good from a young and talented chef.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 7, 2013

We were surprised at how creative the menu was from lamb to a variety of homemade pastas and delicious appetizers. Funky decor and lighting that let us relax with attentive, friendly and unobtrusive staff. The recommendations from the waiter and the manager were right on the money. Family place with the with the owner's nephew waiting tables and his mother managing the place. The food was a good value, very fresh and a good variety of fish. The 23 year-old chef is a real find. We ordered wine from a local vineyard whose owners were dining in the restaurant. Nice, simple wine list with a good choice of Italian, local italian styles wine and other local wine. We saw other couples and groups of friends really enjoying themselves.

“Once we were seated, food was great!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 7, 2013

We made reservations but still waited 15 min for a table. There was really no reception space and no room at the bar so we stood in the doorway. The staff kept checking in with us which helped. Once we were seated the meal was awesome! We started with charcuterie and caprese salad. I had the chicken piccata - lemon, capers and little fried potatoes! My husband had the short rib -he's a short rib connoisseur and this dish got high marks - he shared a bite with me and I would agree!

“Weird drink charges......”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed July 2, 2013

Have had some fine experiences here, but last week's was plain weird. My friend and I were seated at the first table on the left, which is a windowless corner, and somewhat claustrophobic. We ordered a martini, dry, up, with a twist and a glass of chardonnay, along with steamed clams, a swordfish entree and a steak salad piedini.

The drinks came and the martini was well prepared. The clams were very good. Then service slowed down quite a bit. The entrees finally arrived and were very good. The kicker was the check. Besides the base price for each drink, there was an extra $2 charge for the martini being "up" and some other $2 charge for the wine. When I inquired of the server what was up, he said he would ask why the extra charges....after awhile he returned to say that the extra wine charge would be reversed, but that the extra charge for the martini being "up" was due to it being "more labor intensive"........huh??? We were exhausted from travel and didn't feel like taking it up with a manager, etc, but I must say, I have never!

“Wonderful food...good service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 27, 2013

We found this place on the Main Street after spending a nice afternoon at a winery and strolling around the shops of Calistoga. So glad we stopped in. We had to wait a while for them to clear a table, but the wait was worth it. We shared their Manila clams which were some of the tastiest my husband and I had ever had. Then we decided to share a pizza...we chose the smoked pancetta with shaved asparagus. WOW!!!! Both of us agreed the crust and flavor was amazing! The service was good and friendly and we enjoyed the relaxed pace.

“Nice place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 25, 2013

We didn't order full meals here but rather had an appetizer, pizza and salad. Everything was delicious, but the portions seemed a bit small for the price (probably typical for this kind of place, but still). It was nice that they had some outdoor tables as inexplicably many places in this beautiful downtown do not. The service was excellent. It's definitely worth a try, but overall when I'm hungry I would prefer slightly larger portions than what this place provides!
