“Great short rib!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 11, 2013

We enjoyed our dinner here, and both ordered the short rib. It was delicious. The mashed sweet potato was amazing. My mom had a bowl of the duck soup and it was tasty as well. :) Nice ambiance, too.

“Service is everything”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 24, 2013

We went 2 nights in a row because the food was delicious . The first evening we thought maybe the service was an anomaly, however the second night concluded our findings. The servers treated us like we were imposing on their evening and an inconvenience. The Chief made excellent food and he came out and checked on us, we gave him kudos on the food. It is unfortunate that such a great atmosphere and food can be spoiled by servers that do not seam to care - upgrading the customer service will change this place from average to amazing.

“Great meals in wine country”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 20, 2013 via mobile

We were 2 couples looking for a place to eat while walking through the town of Calistoga. We stopped to look at the menu and were treated by Rick at the door. He answered any questions we had withe the menu and with that we went inside to eat. I ordered the lamb sirloin while the rest of the group ordered the braised beef. My Lamb was cooked to perfection and well seasoned and the sides of white beans and ratatouille were a great complement to the meal. From all accounts the braised beef with sweet potato mash was great as well. The service and attentiveness of the staff was also great.. Highly recommended

“A Real Gem Restaurant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 20, 2013

We were a group of about 8, comfortably seated at a long table. We chose a nice Zin wine for $24 a bottle, and a local Sauv Blanc for $20 a bottle! What a positive start. The ladies had a risotto dish - "okay", but I had a hanger steak that was spectacular. My friend had a pork chop, which was fine, but not as good as mine. My wife and I shared a "Pea Shoot" salad that was delicious. A real gem of a restaurant!

“Great Food. Pleasant Outdoor Environment”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 3, 2013

We only had one day in Calistoga during out trip through California and I'm so glad we opted for the Calistoga Kitchen for our evening meal. The food was great, very fresh fish, and the service was friendly. We had spoken to Rick the owner earlier as we headed off for a pre-dinner drink, (a decent bar in Calistoga is more challenging to find) and he was gracious enough to also recommend another good restaurant in town.

One of my slight disappointments holidaying in the States is that they don't always embrace the outdoors, even when the climate is ideal for al fresco dinning. Being in the front terrace though of the Calistoga Kitchen on a balmy night, you could be in Italy.

A great night.
