“One of the finest dining experiences in the Napa Valley”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 3, 2007

Brannans was a fantastic Napa Valley dining experience that exceeded both my girlfriend and my own expectations. We visit the Napa Valley at least once a quarter and have dined at many of the different establishments throughout the area and we keep coming back here after finding that few have lived up to Brannan's service and quality. The gnocci appetizer was to die for and the seared tuna entree was also excellent, we can't wait to come back.

“Fabulous food, cozy setting, lovely service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 23, 2007

We dined at Brannan's on a Thursday nite - walked in with no reservations and got a booth right near the fireplace! It was a rainy nite so the ambience was perfect. They have a new executive chef, Dominick Orsini (which I only know this because we met him while we were having mid-afternoon wine over at Bar Vino). Since we really enjoyed our dinner the previous nite at Bar Vino (and dining al fresco at Wappo was out of the question due to rain) we happily went across the street to Brannan's. The interior is typical steakhouse decor. Dark wood, leather booths, giant moose head over the fireplace. But it is inviting nontheless. I can only tell you what I ate, I don't remember what BF had. First off, the appetizer of sweet potato gnocchi with blue cheese, pecans and dried cranberiess was to die for! It was sooooo good! I had steak (filet, I think) with a blue cheese potato gratin (heavy but delicious), and we shared a chocolate cake with hazelnut gelato - perfect ending! In speaking with Chef Orsini, he told us he'd only been there 3 months (maybe less?), and he has done a wonderful job as our dinners at both Bar Vino and Brannan's were truly fantastic. We look forward to another visit back!

“Many Better Choices Than This”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed April 6, 2007

We had an advanced reservation (by a month) and were seated near the door. This meant exposure to a cold blast for every entry and exit of the building for the evening. We made a BIG mistake ordering their Oyster Rockefeller appetizer (in addition to steaks, fish, and the waiter's recommended rabbit) - the Rockefeller was not like anything we had ever experienced. Imagine: cold oyster with hard grated parmesan and dry bread crumbs. Hmmm - it was supposed to be "braised." After inquiring on the "braising technique," we decided to try one more (one of us passed on another try) and the 2nd came out like the 1st batch. After expressing our distaste, we were served by the water boy for the remainder of the meal and we were charged for the culinary experimentation. Will not be back and will not recommend it.

“Yummy!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 8, 2007

No bad, all good. Don't miss it. Service was great & both our meals were good. The Gnocchi appetizers is fabulous. Nice atmosphere with a fireplace inside.
