“Short break”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 14, 2013

We had rooms in the Lodge which was a 2 storey block at the furthest point from Reception and the pools, spa etc. As it poured with rain throughout our stay this was not ideal. However the rooms were well appointed with comfortable beds and a good bathroom. They had a private patio, with fountain, which opened directly onto a good parking area. The pools were clean and really warm but the changing facilities were cramped and cold as everywhere was wet due mostly to the rain. The massage was a seriously good experience and well worth the extra cost. One of my friends also had the mud bath which she enjoyed. My only other complaint was the lack of tea/coffee facilities on site, the room where these were available only being open from 7.30am to 10.30am. I would suggest visiting here either in the Spring or Autumn.

Room Tip: If in the Lodge an upper floor room will probably be quieter but will not have the same easy access...

“Uh... Nah.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 28, 2012 via mobile

This review is for the hotel more than the spa. We stayed in the "lodge." I think I need to relearn the meaning of that word, by the way. Don't get me wrong. The room was nice: clean, updated decor, nice bathroom. But it wasn't that large, and though the place has two doors, they were both exposed to the outside world providing limited privacy and security. Also, we were a little surprised that a) the room wasn't ready by 3:00 as promised and b) there was no offer to show us to our room or to help us with our bags. We were on the second floor, and there's no elevator. There also was no coffee in the room. There was a note in the room that coffee was available somewhere on the grounds in the morning, but they didn't tell us that at reception.

So, in short, for over $300 per night, the service and amenities were definitely lacking.

The highlight of the spa was the mud bath. The attendant Edgar was fed professional and attentive. The experience was new to me and very relaxing, if not pretty darn warm and dehydrating. It's definitely worth a try, however. The mineral pool was pretty neat, too. The warm water and oveall atmosphere was great. By the way, there's a subtle smell of sulphur everywhere. That's just part of the experience. In general, however, the spa decor an upkeep, especially the lockerroom, is just ok.

Here's what you should do: book a $85 mud bath, take advantage of the included pool privileges, and make arrangements to stay elsewhere.

“Lots of fun”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 26, 2012

My fiance and I had lots of fun at this property. The location is amazing surrounded by wineries and breweries. We took long bike rides while taking in the sites. When we came back we got to soak in the pool. One day we got to try a mud bath and relax by the Buddha pond. Although we didn't get to experience the mud bath side by side, we both thoroughly enjoyed. The rooms were also very clean and spacious. We would not hesitate returning to Indian Springs.

“Wonderful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 20, 2012

We live within a 2 hour drive of Calistoga and since we found Indian Springs Resort a few years ago, it is our go to place to relax in hot water. The resort is first class all the way without feeling "stuck up". It is truly a kinda funky (you can see the different eras of building designs/styles) and relaxing place. The grounds are wonderful with an ever changing art landscaping. We have stayed in the cottages, duplexes and the lodge. All are very clean and comfortable. On most occasions we stay at the lodge on the second floor. It is about $10 cheaper and in the morning you can sit on the shared back porch and watch the sunrise with a great cup of coffee provided in the Terrace Room, just a few steps away from your room. The large hot water pool cannot be matched by any other resort in the area. The new adult/cool pool is beautiful and adds an extra type of relaxation to the hot pool. I have had mud baths and treatments at the spa and have yet to be disappointed. All of the staff are friendly and seem to enjoy their jobs. Many staff have been proud to share how many years they have worked there. Resturants and shops are just a short walk down the street. I have always felt completly safe at the resort (even late night while enjoying a soak watching the stars) and in town. Enjoy!

Room Tip: Rooms 19 (lower level) and 31 (upper level) are closest to the main road and traffic noise is just a...

“lovely”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 13, 2012

simple, contemporary, rejuvenating.

have stayed several times, everything is always lovely. recommend the downstairs rooms, as they have a small balcony.

( only wished they had 'adult only' hours at the pool facility and updated the mats along the border of the pool)
