We stayed here for three nights on a spur-of-the-moment trip. We were assigned one of the brand new rooms on the (3rd?) floor, I think we were the first ones to ever use the room as it still smelled of construction/wood! The room was a great size and the kitchen very useful. The bed was firmly comfortable. There were a few other indications that it was brand new: for example, we had trouble getting the AC/heat system to work properly, and the kitchen cabinets didn't have any shelves in them yet. Nothing that ruined our stay though, just little fixable issues. We did not hear any construction noise, though they are still working on some of these rooms.
A few things to be aware of: 1) there are no elevators so we walked up 3 short flights of stairs - the levels are sort of offset side-by-side so it's not a true 3 stories up. 2)There is no staff at the desk before 8:30 am or so. 3)They sell a limited number of day passes to non-guests to use the pools. Didn't bother us but if you wanted the pools to yourself, that may not be possible.
We enjoyed a very reasonably priced mud bath and massage at the spa. We walked to Calistoga Roastery for breakfast - great, if busy, spot, and CalMart for deli sandwiches on our way out to go wine tasting. Very good location for walking around quaint Calistoga.
