“Better then ever!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 17, 2012

We were afraid to return since the hiring of a new chef, but are pleased to report to our fellow Trip Advisor users that Saddle Peak Lodge is better then ever before! The food is definitely tastier under the supervision and execution of the new chef. Service remains professional and impeccable. The ambience is wonderful and romantic, and was particularly pleasing with all of the Christmas Holiday decorations in place. It is a pricey restaurant but is perfect to celebrate a special occasion.

“Very unique LA”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 12, 2012

Great restaurant in the middle of the Malibu Canyon, that gives you a wild live atmosphere like no other.
It is a log cabin in the wilderness. Every Angeleno should have paid a visit there. You will hardly find a place like this anywhere else. Smart casualwear is still expected. It's somewhat elegant with a wild touch

“Poor service from the start”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed October 22, 2012

Even with a reservation and open tables we were made to wait. Then we requested a table outside and we were told that they did not have any for 30 minutes. When we took a look around there were tables free.

The food was good, but not that special. We had come a long way to have a nice visit with family, but after one hour at the table we were asked to move so that they could seat someone else.

Would not go back.

“STILL SUPERB AFTER ALL THESE YEARS”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 24, 2012

I hadn't been here in over 20 years, but it was still as fabulous as ever. Had brunch on a Sunday which is a very good value versus dinner. Looks like a log cabin from the outside tucked away in the Santa Monica mountains, but inside is elegance without stuffiness and lots of old world charm. Different rooms for different moods. Try the library or the patio or the main level game room, as I call it, you will love it all. No more romantic restaurant around. Service is good without being obtrusive. Reservations a must. Go for dinner if it is a very special occasion, or if you like wild game. Just be prepared to pay. And don't forget to read the articles on the wall as you walk up or down the stairs. Gives you the whole history of the restaurant from the l930's until now. Big secret spot for the stars back then. Probably is now too. Classy and sophisticated. You feel like you are far away when Malibu is just 15 minutes away, or Calabasas if you take Malibu Canyon the other way. Win/win. A huge yum!
