“Decent place to stay for the low price.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 14, 2009

This was my second time in GNI Calabasas. I love the country feel, with the rolling hills surrounding, and easy drive to Malibu and LA. Its just off highway 101, but the noise shouldn't be a problem. As far as the Motel itself goes, please don't have too high expectations - its just a nice plain motel that is mostly clean and comfortable, and the best part is the low price. OK, the carpets look old and smelly, but if you can live with that, that's about the worst feature. You can buy a can of air freshener from Albertsons supermarket next door if you are sensitive to smells.

Rooms have a box-on-the-wall type air conditioner, but they are not too loud. A mini fridge, and a reasonable CRT TV with good number of channels. No free Internet, but its only $4.95 for 24Hrs if you want it. Beds are OK, not too bad, not too good. Bathroom is dated, as you would expect, but the housekeeping staff do an excellent job and the rooms are cleaned very well. Front desk staff courteous, no problems at all.
There is a coin operated laundry in the complex. There does not appear to be any elevators in the complex, but I'm sure the staff will assist you if you are unable to drag your baggage up to the 2nd floor.
They have a pool in the center courtyard, it looked nice, but I didn't use it.
I think the reception office closes fairly early, around 8:30pm so better check with staff what to do if you are planning to arrive late at night.

The Good Nite Inn provided us with just the basics--a comfortable bed, a small continental breakfast and good location. We wanted to be close to Malibu and not spend a lot of money so this hotel was all that we needed. I would have liked to have had a hair dryer, coffee maker and frig in the room, but was okay without them. It was also in a safe area with shopping nearby. We will stay here again.

I can only reinforce the positive reviews this place has been getting.

Firstly its excellent location - we spent some time at Malibu Creek State Park which was a quick 10 minute drive away, the Malibu coast was a short and very scenic drive through the canyons.

Also it is next door to a big modern Albertsons supermarket - excellent deli selections, sandwiches, fresh fruit. There are restaurants, Starbucks, fast food places all very close.

Paid $51 a night which is very good value for money. Not a large room but clean, comfortable and quiet considering how close to the freeway the place is. Seemed to have a generous selection of TV channels. Didn't realise there were free breakfast refreshments so that's a bonus we didn't know about.

Easy to find off the 101 Ventura freeway at Los Virgenes Rd exit

We stayed at the Goodnite Inn with our family and friends to celebrate our sons wedding and found The location to be beautiful. Very close to Malibu. Just a short drive through the scenic canyon. Close to restaurants. They offered a really nice complimentary breakfast also.. I would highly recommend this Inn to anyone looking for a nice, clean, very economical place to stay in the Malibu/Calibasas area. Thanks so much!

This is the third time I have stayed at this property. This place is an absolutely amazing value for your buck. The property shows well. The staff is great. The rooms are clean and cozy. The pool and spa are clean and always the perfect temperature. Each time I have stayed there, I have been allowed a late check out.

There are two fast food restaurants, Starbucks, Albertsons, and a couple other restaurants that are walking distance from the property.

I highly recommend this property.

Booked via venere, com a night at Good Nite inn. We were on a 2 weeks stay in the LA area and wanted something not too far from Malibu and Santa Monica at an affordable price.

It started in the worst way you could imagine. Upon our arrival a very unfriendly asian girl (not that the ethnicity counts, just to recognize her if you go there) told us they hadn't received our reservation. MInd it was at a discount price and that said offer had disappeared from all the hotel booking sites except venere. What really irked me was that her answer was a plain "ok, go and try to contact Venere and then come back." She had a pc and a phone right next to her, and she wanted me to go anywhere and investigate the matter ON OUR OWN!
Instead, i could book the room desk up front at full price. Mhh, very unfriendly and suspicious, isn't it?
The continental breakfast is very disappointing. First, it is served only up to 8.30 or 9.30 AM. Why?? And second, is made of cheap muffins and average coffee and juice. The latter in small quantities. I had been to a motel in Chicago the previous week were they covered you with donuts, fruit and oatmeals, for free as well, so it really stroke a note ;)

Apart from that, the room was clean, tv was fine, not too big a room, but good enough to make us book another 4 nights, via Hotels.com. No problems this time around.
All in all, i think the enthusiastic reviews are a little too enthusiastic. I was expecting more upon reading around here. We had been at the Howard & Johnson in PIco Riveira just before this and the rooms were far more spectacular that these. But Calabasas is a great location, relatively close to malibu and Santa Monica so if you want to dig on the western part of LA and have a car, definitely consider this place.
The mall just near the Motel is definitely a plus They sell lots of good and healthy salads, fruit ecc.. For an italian couple on a month-long trip all over US it was a welcome choice ;)

Dear “A guest from Italy” we appreciate you posting your comments at Trip Advisor and apologize any inconvenience during your stay at our property. We have noticed an online reservations could been easier for the hotel booking but could be a challenger as well since so many different agents on the internet today. We do apologize the information delayed but we definitely want to deal with problems as they occur and happy you have a great vacation in America. Please allow me to clarify our “Quick Start Breakfast‘ are start from 6am-9am and the coffee service until noon. We are always delighted when our guests see the great value in our location. We look forward to your next visit and thanks to choose Good Nite Inn.
Best Regards,

Its a very nice hotel near US101 exit 32 with honest price. Very simple (no refrigerator and/or free internet) but clean and organized. If you get a room on external side is quit bit noise because the road, but is OK. Far from LA attractions excepting Six Flags (25/35 minutes from). Simple breakfast. The employees are friendly and respectful.
