Great Hotel, Superb Location, Good Food, Staff who go the extra mile for you, and an amazing Golf Course. We had a Suite facing the Atlantic Ocean and the views were awesome. Not the easiest place in the world to get to, unless you fly into Campbeltown, or take the ferry in the summer months (May - September), but well worth the drive from wherever. You need to do it in daylight though as the coast line is stunning, and not to be missed. I'm already looking forward to returning.

Room Tip: Ask for a Suite facing the Atlantic Ocean

Returned to Machrihanish for more golf and once again stayed at the Ugadale hotel. Stayed two nights and it was fantastic. The room was large and spotlessly clean ,the beds were extremely comfortable and gave a great nights sleep after a day's golf, especially as we had to play in the windiest of conditions due to the last of Hurricane Gonzalo. The service was perfect, with all staff very friendly and attentive .The full breakfast is definitely one of the best around. Evening meals were again in the Old Clubhouse Pub and the food was excellent both in quality and portion size. The whole package was terrific value and I know there great deals to be had at the moment, in fact I just might head back down soon.

We spent 4 nights at the Ugadale Hotel in early November and cannot recommend this place highly enough. You don’t need to be a golfer to enjoy this exquisite hotel which has retained the charms of the past, yet has all the elegance and comfort you could wish for. The staff were so friendly and welcoming, the food was excellent, including the breakfasts! We dined at both the Ugadale and Royal Hotel in Campbeltown and the chefs were very helpful and creative with special dietary requirements. We played the ‘Dunes’ course twice in perfect November sunshine. The views from the tees and greens along the Atlantic seaboard were simply breath-taking as is the condition and layout of this fabulous new course.

Room Tip: A room with a sea view towards Islay and Jura is ideal. If you enjoy loads of space, then choose a...

I traveled here in September, 2014 with my husband and stayed in the Ugadale Cottages. They were gorgeous, super clean, and comfortable. The staff was very nice and accommodating as well. The hotel and cottages face the water with a nice little beach out front where you can go have a morning cup of coffee and marvel at your surroundings. Truly made the drive down worth it.

We have just come back from a couple of nights at the Ugadale hotel. It was our first time at the hotel so we read some reviews on Tripadvisor before we booked and found them to be spot on. All the staff are really friendly and helpful. The hotel feels like a luxury family run hotel although it is not. The food in the old golf clubhouse was extremely good. On the negative side the Dunes golf course has too many blind shots for my liking and has to be played a second time before you can begin to enjoy it. Previous reviewers thought the breakfast was not great and I would have to agree as it was plentiful but not of the same quality as the evening meal. We stayed in a suoerior room was was very nice and the cottages are lovely as well.

We stopped here for two nights Saturday and Sunday after a week in Carradale. This really is a 5 star hotel. Great staff, good food, excellent accommodation. We ate in the Royal Hotel in Campbeltown on Saturday, and the Old Clubhouse Pub on Sunday. Played golf on the Dunes on Saturday afternoon.
All in all, a great experience.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the sea.

It was a 6 and a half hour drive to reach the hotel but the drive down the Kintyre Peninsular is part of the attraction. On reaching the Ugadale the setting is stunning. The sea, the hills and the sky combine to make this a very special place. The welcome is very warm but genuine. The rooms are very comfortable and sumptuously appointed.
