“Not family friendly”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 22, 2013

Expensive hotel catering to conventions. We stayed here because of its proximity to the airport. There is only a bar if you want a snack. We took our grandchildren with us so we ate in the bar. Food was decent if overpriced. Staff was friendly and helpful.
The shuttle driver was inept. He could not open the doors. Stopped the shuttle to go to his car to remove and leave his coat. By this time all the passengers were just happy when he delivered us to a terminal.
Not a good choice.

Room Tip: Try another hotel.

I stayed here for a convention for my company and the rooms are very outdated. I was put in a room near the water but it ended up being very loud do to the planes taking off at all hours of the day and night. Staff are friendly.

My husband and I arrived at the San Francisco Mariott Airport after a flight in from Hawaii! The shuttle picked us up promptly at the terminal and took us to the hotel. The bar and room service stay open late until midnight. I did not think that there would be food so I had picked up something from a shop as I was walking through SFO. The room was small but comfortable with a view of the busy SFO runway. The next day I was pleasantly surprised to find the walking trail outside the hotel and the wetland area near the airport with birds feeding in the marshes. The BART is close as well. The lobby is spacious with many places to sit and the sun streaming in through the glass paneled roof. There were many places to sit outside as well. The restaurant was nice with attentive servers. The fire pits outside were a nice feature. My husband and I sat our there by the fire pits and watched the planes land while we ate dinner. We were fortunate during our stay to have clear weather so we were able to walk on the trail and watch the planes.

The only bad thing was that this is a hotel for business travelers and business conventions. My room was next to a suite which was labeled Hospitality. There was much noise coming from this room. It was not bad the night of my arrival but the night before we left the noise continued past 2 AM. It sounded like an orgy was going on not a business event. In fairness to Mariott, I did not call to complain or request another room. If I choose to stay there again, I would definitely call the hotel management or the police if it happened again because it was truly loud and disturbing.

Room Tip: Choose a room with a view of the airport and the Bay. Stay away from being placed next to room with...

Green Features: There were not recycling containers in the room. I think every hotel should have accessible recycling containers.

Convenient and comfortable rooms. Has airport shuttle. Also has Hertz drop off ! Good cheese and hummus appetizers. Decent drinks. Very good walking trail along the water. You can see planes land. Nice lobby.

This is an outstanding hotel for business travellers needing a place close to SFO. The lobby is expansive and looks out onto San Francisco Bay and the landing approach to SFO airport. The meeting space is very good and the staff is very attentive. We had a meeting for 75 people and the staff was there for every need. The rooms are small, but most travellers are only there overnight on there way into or out of the airport. The shuttle to the Airport is a large bus and it runs every 10-15 minutes from 4:00 am until late at night. My only complaint is the hotel, parking, and food are rather expensive. The Marriott executive lounge had a full breakfast every morning for those rewards customers who qualify, as well as evening treats. The veiw of the airport from the upper floors was very nice. I was concerned about the jet noise, but it was minimal. I will stay here again.

Room Tip: Pick a bay-side room if you can get it. The view is wonderful

Have been looking for a good business hotel at SFO and finally found a great one. Have struggled finding luxury with convenience for early morning flights. First, the airport shuttle runs every 10 minutes in early morning hours and every 15 minutes the rest of the time. Wonderful! Have waited for 30 minutes plus at other properties. Check in for Elite status members is right at the front door near the elevators. You get to bypass front desk. Your key is waiting for you by showing a picture ID. It took 30 seconds to get to the elevators and on the way to my room. Great views from bayside rooms. View of the bay and runway. Relaxing to watch planes land. No noise from aircraft. Great soundproofing of windows. And...a good room service menu with some healthy and low carb options. Delivered in 15 minutes at high traffic times. Only downside is price. All of the SFO hotels are pricey. But the service and convenience is worth the extra for this property. Great running walking trail by the bay that connects to hotel.

Room Tip: Bayside rooms have a great view. Corner rooms a bit bigger.

I have stayed at this Marriott on quite a few occasions, since I always seem to need something convenient to SFO for an early morning East Coast return. You can drop your car off at SFO, take the blue line to the International Terminal, and catch the shuttle back to the hotel, avoiding having to deal with the car the last night of your trip. Shuttle runs every 10 minutes in the morning, and then shift to about every 15 minutes. No big deal. they do share the service with the Hyatt, so you always have to tolerate an extra stop. At this location, they go to great pains to separate you from as much cash as possible. Parking is $23/day. A soft drink is $3.50. A hamburger is $20 (when the iconic In/Out Burger is 1.0 miles away). Lots of little irritations. Neither of the check-in/airline boarding pass printing stations could correctly manage a check in on Delta. Clearly a software or configuration issue. Red coat was not available, and I ended up in a tiny/crappy little room facing the Interstate. A box lunch at a small on-site conference was $40. Really? Is that a $15 apple in there? As a Gold Member, there was little done to make me feel special. Concierge Lounge was typical Marriott. The property is a little dated. soft goods are typical Marriott quality. Bathrooms are ready for a facelift. I will probably return, but based on convenience more than anything else.

Room Tip: Definitely take rooms that face the waterfront, as the view of the planes landing from the East neve...
