Such is the global economy that for US$13.00 more than the $202.00, I paid for one night just yesterday at the Hyatt Regency in SFO, I'd already be at the best hotel I've ever checked into, Mumbai's famed Taj Mahal Palace. I'm not at all comparing the two but just couldn't avoid wishing I were still at the Taj. So enough about the dose of reality on the true value of money in the world and onto the Hyatt by the bay.
Being originally from the Silicon Valley, I'd driven past the HR on the 101 but never checked in. It is quite a sight from the freeway. Inside the grand atrium makes quite a visual impact so too bad we had a dawn flight out so no dining review here. Every floor's elevator area looks out onto the atrium.
Reception and check in was smooth. Marianne of front desk was gracious and warm, generous also to comp our wifi access. Free Shuttle service and Burlingame trolley were on schedule with professional drivers.
Room was adequate, with an empty refrigerator and no snack tray. No complementary water. The only drink in the room were two bottles of Dasani water for $4.00. Maybe they just hadn't stacked yet.
Bathroom is updated but not just enough to be modern. Original looking tub with curved shower curtain. TV and cable are up to par.
Bonus of the hotel, and why I chose it are the heated pool and hot tub outside. Pool looks bigger and grander in the photos.
Would I stay again? Lets put it this way, since I was a wee one living in the area, I always felt bad for tourists who didn't have family to stay with in SF. It's not Tokyo or New York but this whole SF area just breaks the bank no matter how you put it. Is it worth it? You bet it is. Compared to the other hotels with this price- $202 w taxes already, I'd still go back to the Hyatt on my next layover.
