“Close to airport but nothing special ”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 29, 2014

Let me preface my review by saying that I am a loyal intercontinental hotels group patron and with business travel, have had the opportunity to stay in any different IHG properties around the country. I find the majority of the properties decent with a few stand outs like the LAX crowne plaza. So with that in mind, this has to be one if the poorest Crowne Plazas I have stayed in. The decor in the rooms "appears" dated and an apparent Attempt to look modern ended up looking like an offering you would find in Ikea. The rooms are small and the amenities very few, including the concierge lounge for platinum members where you are treats to free coffee from as home and cookies from a bag or box. No breakfast, continental or otherwise unless you want to eat from the troughs downstairs. Oh and at 16 dollars a day additional for parking, the gifts just keep on coming.

I will say that the staff is friendly enough and the hotel is clean and in general in good repair; just no hint of the opulence you find at most crowne plazas. Perhaps the hotel is not making money and has had to cut back but having a hotel next to the airport that has cancelled all of the amenities frequent travelers come to expect for the price will not help your profitability.

Dear BrentAndCindyC,

Firstly, thank you so much for you loyalty to IHG. We appreciate you taking your time to provide us with your feedback. I apologize that our property did not meet your expectations. We are actually starting our hotel renovations in May to update the look and feel of our hotel. As far the executive floor lounge, we do also offer a few other small amenities. There is an espresso machine that provides hot chocolate, tea, and mochas on top of the coffee. We also offer complimentary bottled water in the lounge, as well as fresh fruits throughout the day. Due to the size constriction of our lounge we do not offer breakfast there, it is only served in our restaurant, The West Bay Café. However, we are happy to know that our staff was friendly and able to set a good impression on you during your stay. If you get the opportunity to come back to our property once we get our renovations done, we would love to make this up to you.

Missed International connection due to UA delay out of Newark
UA kindly put us up for the night with the prospect of 24 hours in SF
Checked in around midnight - greeted by very professional desk staff who had us in our room quickly
Room pretty basic - on highway , little noisy but nothing of a concern
Shower next day - Hot and strong
Room size good for family of 4
Would not be a Hotel of Choice for a stay in SF - but a good layover spot
$60 one way cab into city
Free shuttle to Aiprort which was great

You can tell they redecorated the hotel since some parts looked newer then others. Room was comfy, bed was great and in general clean hotel. The cafe wasn't that great but they are separate from the hotel.

They charge $18 or parking which we didn't know, but what you going to do?! Nothing much in the area, you need to drive to Burlingame, which was also boring. There is a BART to SF which is good alternative if you have a day to spare.

United airlines booked this place for me because my original itinerary was rescheduled. It's close to the airport but it's located next to the I-101 highway, so is really noisy or perhaps the small room they offered me was not well isolated. It's an old building, carpets completely dirty, walls un painted.
I wouldn't select it by myself and obviously never paid the fare for this place.

Dear Juan Carlos M,

Thank you for taking your time to provide us with your feedback. We apologize for the road noise you encountered during your stay. We understand that one of the key factors to an amazing hotel stay is a good night's rest. Especially in your case where your flight was delayed. We are very excited to let you know that we will be starting our renovations in May. Along with new carpets, one of the major focuses is our guest bedroom windows. We will be replacing them all together to provide better insulation in order to provide every guest with a quiet and comfortable stay. We hope that once we are finished with our renovations, you get the chance to come back and stay with us again. We would love an opportunity to make this up to you.

I'm a consultant and frequent hotels very often. The staff at this hotel, from the front desk to the restaurant, is outstanding. They are so accommodating and friendly. It's obvious that customer satisfaction is a priority. With staff like CJ Murphy who goes out of his way to make sure that my every need is attended to, I wouldn't stay anywhere else.

The hotel is very nice and the rooms are more than adequate. For frequent flyers like myself, the lounge on the 10th floor is another nice perk with free coffee, fruit, cookies, bottled water, and microwave. Upon arriving in the room, you receive Templespa products which include aromatherapy creams and sprays for your pillow to help lull you into a deep sleep. They actually work.

With its proximity to the airport and awesome restaurants, this hotel should definitely be considered for your traveling needs.

My husband and I originally booked for one night only starting April 2, 2014 as we wanted to check out the hotel plus we were visiting San Francisco on a pleasure trip after having lived there 35 years ago and thought we might want a hotel in the city. Prices for everything in San Francisco are high! Mid level hotels in the city are $250+/night which is why we chose to stay outside the city. We originally paid $166 plus tax but as we decided day by day to stay at the same hotel, I found the price lowered and available on their website even while the front desk was telling me they were sold out and the price was now $200+ so clearly their computers do not talk. Strong suggestion is to use the hotel website. The last night the rate for same level room was $121. The hotel itself is fine - it is not luxurious but it is clean, well maintained, safe and not too far from the city - about 25-30 minutes to downtown S.F. and reasonably priced comparative to in city or even surrounding hotels near the airport. The room rate included a breakfast buffet every day and one drink on arrival and was on the Executive level which is Floor 8 and above. Be sure they give you the coupons for the breakfast and the drink! The buffet is the same every day which was a little disappointing but it was still good and staff were attentive. Overall, I was happy with the accommodations and with the courteous and helpful attention of the staff. Would stay there again. One suggestion for the hotel would be to eliminate the $18.00 parking fee per day - really....is this necessary? I know it is a revenue stream but elimination of the parking fee would be an enticement to many potential guests who inherently feel ripped off especially when the parking lot is empty!!!

Room Tip: Check rates on hotel web. We were on the 8th floor - very quiet rooms, corridors quiet, bed linens...

This is a typical, generic airport hotel with not much to write about. You need to crash for a short period before or after your flight, and these hotels serve their purpose. It is clean and efficient. Room is average size, super quiet, bathroom is small. Wifi was fast. It is a 10 minute shuttle ride from the airport, but the shuttle really packs up (even at 4.30AM). The one downside, is that it drops you on a very narrow strip of curb, and with everyone disembarking and unloading their bags, it is a disaster. The shuttle needs to find a better place to stop on Terminal 1.

Dear ZenHealer,

Thank you for taking your time to provide us with your feedback. We do understand that getting dropped off on a narrow strip at an airport can be a hassle for you. Unfortunately, the airport is very strict on where shuttles can and cannot drop off; which forces all the shuttles to drop off and pick up at the same location. We do apologize for the inconvenience. Our goal is to ensure that you, our guests, don’t experience any difficulties during your stay and that includes your departure from our hotel. We do hope you get a chance to come and back and stay with us again.

With warmth and hospitality,

Brendan Dixon-Beckett
