“A really nice place to visit. Quiet, Clean and Cozy.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 28, 2009

My wife and I stayed at this Best Western on December 21st and the 22nd, a Monday and a Tuesday. I asked the front desk clerk for a room with a hot tub and there was one near by on the ground floor that he could show me. I liked being able to look at the room ahead of time and it was a very nice two person hot tub in there as well as a king-sized bed, TV, microwave, small refrigerator and a coffee maker. Not too many people were in the hotel on those days and so there were no noise or distractions to speak of. There wasn't any available room service to speak of, but there were a wide variety of restaurants within easy walking distance. Also available was a "business room" that included free access to the internet computer provided, as well as a printer and a fax machine. My only complaint is that we didn't get maid service to clean our room on the second day because the hotel had let them go early, probably due to it being Christmas week. The front desk clerk, however, did provide us with clean towels. Also available was a washer and dryer for one dollar each use, a small swimming pool (maximum depth 4 feet on the second floor) and a fitness room with an elliptical cycle, a treadmill, a stationary bike and weights, plus a TV all open 24 hours. A continental breakfast was available for two hours each morning as well.

We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights to attend a taping of the Ellen Degeneres Show. The hotel was 10 minutes away walking distance to Warner Studios. Other tourist sites were nearby, e.g. Universal Studios, etc, but not sure about the exact distance. There were a variety of restaurants within walking distance as well. The hotel was clean. The staff were friendly and helpful. The rooms were spacious and clean. The mattress was firm and comfortable. While the continental breakfast was not the best I have ever had, there was a fair variety of items to select from so I wouldn't downrate it. The view from our room was of the alley in back of the hotel, but we didn't select this hotel for the view. Overall, it certainly met our needs and in fact we booked this hotel based on reviews in Trip Advisor.

We were in town overnight to do an all-day tour of the Warner Brothers studio -- which is right around the corner from this hotel. It is centrally located, and walking distance from the vintage Bob's Big Boy restaurant (another reason we picked the hotel). Rooms big and clean, free in-room internet, good service from staff, free overnight parking, and a pretty impressive free continental breakfast set-up. It has a pool and small business center. We got a good rate (AAA) and enjoyed everything about the stay.

Stayed in the 3 room (and it was not advertised as three separate rooms, NICE surprise to have to separate bedrooms) suite. Great service from staff, good continental breakfast, very comfy beds and living area. SPARKLING clean from the bathroom to the microwave. Lobby etc. The first thing you will notice when you walk in the door is the cleanliness.

The only cons were that the showerhead was very low (Husband 6'2", Daughter 5'11", me 5'9") The only one who fit under it was my 5'3" son. No big deal really, just thought I'd mention it.

Pool was also tiny but very clean and nice. We had it all to ourselves the two times we used it :)

We needed a clean convenient spot close to our daughter's work while we visited her. Like most of the Best Western chain, this is a straight-forward not-too-many frills facility that does a good job of meeting basic needs. The room was nicely appointed and clean. The beds were comfortable, the bathroom was clean and the included breakfast offerings were what you would expect. The location was neither exotic nor scenic - but that's not what we were looking for. It was conveniently placed and afforded us access to all that we needed. The room had a refrigerator and microwave (just as we wanted) but there was no access to any food within walking distance. Garage parking under the building was very convenient and was at no additional cost (unlike many other L.A. hotels). This is a good choice for business travelers and those who are not looking for the hotel to be their destination. A good place to stay and a decent value.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 3, 2009

My wife and I stayed here for three nights January 24-26, 2009. I chose this place based on all the positive reviews others posted here on TripAdvisor. I can honestly tell you this has been one of the best hotel experiences we have had.

First, location. We planned to visit the major network studios in Burbank, including Warner Brothers and NBC (to attend the Tonight Show). This is the only hotel within walking distance to both studios…less than 10 minutes. That means you can leave your car at the hotel (FREE underground parking which you won’t find at most other hotels in this area) and not pay to park at the studios. This hotel is also only a 10 minute drive from Hollywood and the major attractions there. Universal Studios & Theme Park is a mere 5 minutes drive away. At least two major shopping malls about 15 minutes away. And trust me you do not want to stay in the Hollywood area unless you are going to stay at an upscale place like the Roosevelt or similar. Virtually all average and chain hotels in the immediate Hollywood/ West Hollywood areas are cramped, loud and dirty.

The hotel itself is in a very good area, clean and no riff-raff. Quiet business/residential mix area. Ventura Freeway entrance and exit are right there, and an easy route to Hollywood adjacent. Small but very good restaurants & lounges within the street block. Premium car wash and a gas station just a block down the street. This is a quiet location, particularly at night, although I would recommend asking for a room that does not overlook Riverside Drive if traffic bothers you at all (the street itself though is not that busy). The hotel exterior appears somewhat average, but well-kept.

What really took us back is just how impeccably clean, well maintained and managed this hotel is. Lobby, breakfast room and hallways are spotless and appear as though new.

The Room: We had the base room which is really a suite. Room 114. Good size with separate walk-thru sitting area with loveseat, chair and coffee table. Entry area had a small dry bar with a refrigerator beneath. High-quality, very comfortable king size bed in sleeping area. Closet with full-length mirror. Good lighting throughout. The room was nicely furnished and everything was in new condition. No wear-and-tear anywhere. Coffee maker, iron and ironing board in-room. Now, Kudos to the housekeeping staff: our room was incredibly clean and tidy both when we arrived and through the subsequent days. So spotless and clean you could eat off the bathroom floor…honestly.

Continental Breakfast was good. Standard fare…choice of breads, pastries, cereal, yogurt, juice/coffee/tea and fruit. Choice of fruit was limited to bananas and apples. Overall not the best I’ve had from a chain hotel, but we were always satisfied.

Since our stay was over a winter weekend, it was very quiet. Very few people at this hotel at that time. I suspect it is frequented more by business travelers, but it’s also suited to families except for the lack of a pool. We almost never saw front desk staff. When we did, they were helpful and professional. We did not encounter ‘Mr.Grumpy’ desk manager guy that others mentioned in their reviews.

I have only one small complaint: water pressure for the shower was low and it took me at least twice as long than normal to have one. That being said, it did not detract from my impression and enjoyment of our stay here.

Overall we were extremely pleased with this place, and it really added to the enjoyment of our holiday. The convenience of its location simply cannot be beat. It will appeal to pretty much anyone young or old; single or hitched; with kids or without.

The good:
The rooms - fantastic beds, clean, spacious, really comfortable. Great house keeping service!

The Location - perfect spot, near every thing, and not a far drive at all from downtown Hollywood.
-The Mexican place right across the street is AMAZING definitely go there... as well as Priscilla's coffee shop - which is like a block away.

The parking - easy, and underground.

The bad:
Breakfast - I wouldn't say it was bad, just always really lacking things, I'd suggest going out - there is a starbucks right down the street that serves breakfast, as well as a few other places (the original Bob's big boy is right there).

The manager - All the reviews that talk about the front desk or the manager being a not great experience - are correct. We didn't have much interaction with him, but when we did, he was the furthest from hospitable. He really just seemed like he hates being there, which I would tell Best Western to give him what he wants, and find someone who knows something about customer service and a friendly smile. I am sure that this hotel would be rated 5 stars A LOT more if the front desk staff /manager did not seem so miserable to be working there.

On the whole though - it was a great room, and great location, and if you can avoid the front desk folks and the manager, I promise you'll have a great stay.
