“Good clean Value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 10, 2007

I'd certainly concur with all the positive reviews of this place.with the exception of a slight mix-up at check in about the type of rooms booked(which was speedily resolved),the whole six night stay could hardly have been better.Clean, comfortable rooms, ample free parking, helpful staff, warm pool, and plenty loungers, sum the Safari up.For those brave enough to join the horrendous traffic on the 101/134,access is easy,as it is to all the studios and Hollywood in general.Because we went at a quiet time we even got to Santa Monica beach in half an hour.

This is the standard all motels should aspire to.Its combination of quality/price/convenience is hard to beat in North LA.OK,it's not luxury, but for those of us paying our own way, there are loads of places in this part of CA that charge NY prices that we simply cannot afford.Coast Hotels seem to be aware of this problem and are pricing their properties sympathetically.Good on them.

The Safari Inn is just a great little gem located about equidistant from the NBC Studios and downtown Burbank. Not easy walking distance to either, but it's possible. We chose it because of the good reviews and the fact that Lucinda Williams wrote her last album while staying here.
This is like the sort of roadside motel you stayed at on family road trips in the 70's down to the cool neon sign over the little backyard size swimming pool.
It's a Coast Hotel and obviously well managed and maintained. The desk staff were all knowledgeable, helpful and friendly. (Thanks Valerie!) The room was average in size, with one small window. Wardrobe with iron and ironing board. Decent TV. Comfortable bed. Large bathroom, good water pressure for LA. The room was spotlessly clean, excellent housekeeping.
The pool, though small was likewise clean and fresh and there was a great little elevated deck area that you could take your morning coffee on. However, I would not reccommend the continental breakfast coffee. But there are several sbux fairly nearby.
Makes a nice change from the more typical corporate inns. A blast from the past with no discomforts and the price, (we paid $109) was right.

Looks like a Motel 6, but it's really nice.

First, there are no hassles: free parking, free local phone calls, free wifi. The wifi has plenty of bandwidth to use Skype for long distance, if you like.

Walking distance to 10 places to eat, from McDonald's to Olive's Bistro. I especially like the Wok place across the street; order a "small" portions as the "large" is too big for one person.

Every room has a fridge. I consider this a big plus. They have full kitchen units for a few bucks more. There's a microwave in the laundry room, if you want to make popcorn, heat up a dinner, or warm leftovers.

I originally found the Safari Inn using Priceline. I looked forward to getting it. I felt ripped off if they gave me the Sheraton Universal or the Burbank Hilton instead, because the Safari has more conveniences, and fewer nickel-and-dime fees.

I don't understand the people here who have bashed the Safari. I suppose they expect Beverly Hills Hotel type accomidations and luxuries from an averaged-price hotel. My husband and I stayed there for a week-long vacation in LA, and I have to say that I was extremely pleased by the service. The front desk staff was helpful and accomidating. The free continental breakfast was a little dissapointing but then again, it was free, so we weren't expecting perfection. And there are dozens of eateries and restaurants within walking or driving distance. The Olive Bistro was okay ... not great.

We stayed in the king suite on the second floor and we did not have any problems with noise from either the other guests or the traffic (and my husband is a very light sleeper who would be disturbed by these things. He had no problems.) The free wireless was AWESOME! Our room was immaculate and the cleaning staff was never there early (and we were usually up by 8 a.m.)

I would stay there again, for sure! The hotel staff was friendly, helpful and knowledgeable about the area. The location is perfect -- close to the main Burbank attractions, but also close enough to the freeways to get just about anywhere. Parking was FREE! (How many places in LA can claim that!)

We had a wonderful stay at the hotel. Clean and quiet. Would I recommend this hotel, YES! Front desk very helpful, even let us check in early. Location was excellent. Very close to NBC Studios, Disney Studios and Warner Bros.

The only disappointing thing about our stay was the service at Olive's Bistro (located at the Anabelle, Safari Inn's partner hotel). We dined there twice. The first time, I think our waitress was new and we kind of just went with it and her mishaps. The 2nd time, we were the only ones in the dining room. The waiter very rarely came to our table to see if we needed anything. Although the food was above average, service was well below average.

Our stay at the Safari Inn was amazing. The front desk staff were extremely helpful, and very pleasent to deal with. The room we stayed in was bright , very clean & tidy and well kept up. I would recomend this hotel to any of my friends who travel to Burbank Califonia. I will be back again for sure.....

The Safari inn, is an outdoor entry Motel. It is a quaint little place and is very small. The rooms are clean and comfortable, but nothing special. Check in was very smooth, we checked in at 11am and our room was ready.
We were going that day to see the Tonight Show (10 minutes walk on Olive Dr). When we returned, we took a Taxi to downtown Burbank for dinner (7.50) and when we were to return, we could not locate a Taxi to take us back (suggest having the phone number with you) So we headed for the Holiday Inn that is nearby (3 minute walk) and they were niceenough to drive us back to our hotel for free!

The following day we were going to Warner Bro Studios for a tour - again it was only a 15 minute walk away from the hotel.

We also went to Universal on our trip (11.00 Taxi Ride) took about 7 minutes to get there.

There is a Mcdonalds and a Donut Prince within a block of the hotel, so getting something quick is easy to do. The breakfast is not the best, but is free.

The area is pretty clean but a little older. We chose the Safari as the location, we did not want to spend the money on a car (parking is always $$) This was a fair stay for the money (99.00 mgr rate) We did not use the pool, but we did see some folks in it.

I would recommend the Safari if you are like us, do not want to rent a car, and want to visit the Studios nearby.
