“Nice place to stay.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 26, 2010

We stayed at this hotel for 4 days at the end of our California holiday. Although it wasn't the best hotel of the trip it was a nice place. The room was tidy and clean. The only problem we had was the T.V set was a bit fuzzy but they had it replaced within an hour. We enjoyed the swimming pool during the night...although it was winter, it was still warm enough to swim.....and the pool was heated. I would stay at this hotel again.

We are so pleased that you chose to stay at the Holiday Inn Buena Park during your California vacation and that you were pleased with the rooms and service (and of course the heated pool!). We look forward to your next visit to the USA and California!

We made a quick trip up from San Diego to take the kids to Medieval Times. The hotel staff was great, but the hotel was dingy and felt old. The room was clean, but small with poor lighting. At about 3:00 in the morning we found out how thin the walls were when the couple next door began enjoying each other’s company. It was as if they were in our room. I'm glad our kids did didn't wake up or we would have had a lot of questions as to what was going on next door to us.

I would have a hard time recommending this hotel, but if you aren't going to be spending a lot of time in the room the price is right and the location to local attractions is good.

First, thank you for your comments and we are very pleased that you liked our staff so much -- our employees work very hard to ensure our guests are happy and we are pleased, as management, to know that their efforts are recognized. We were surprised to understand that you felt the hotel looked old - we've been working very hard in 2009 to upgrade all areas of the hotel including guestrooms, lobby and public areas. We will continue to update the hotel in 2010 with the inclusion of flat screen TV's in all guestrooms by the end of the year. In addition, though we do offer energy efficient lighting in the guestrooms, it shouldn't be dim - but possibly the bulbs need to be replaced and we've added that to our preventative maintenance ruitine. Thank you again for posting your comments as that is how we learn and grow as a service organization.

Hotel is in a convenient location near Knotts Berry Farm and Disneyland. Easy access to freeways - 91, 5, 605, 57. We traveled all over the area from Legoland to Redondo, East to Brea, North to Pasadena, and it was really great to have a hotel with easy access to the freeways. Hotel was clean, kid friendly, and had very good customer service. The rate was really good, save your money over the hotels that are just a "bit" close to the parks, it is worth it! The only downside is there was no gym for a workout, but after a day of walking the amusement park, we found we didn't need it!

We are so pleased that you enjoyed your stay with us and took advantage of our convenient location! We would like to clarify one item in your review -- we do, in fact, have a work out room -- it's on the second floor just outside of the elevators (towards the front of the building). We truly apologize that we didn't inform you more effectively about our work out facility - but are happy that you got your exercise walking around the parks. On behalf of the management and staff, we look forward to your next visit to the Orange County area.

A friend and I stayed at this Holiday Inn for two nights and I must say the staff was the best of any HI I have stayed in in quite some time even for almost twice the price. The rooms appear to be recently renovated with new bedding. The bathrooms are quite small but definitely adequate. The showerheads are great. The location is good for Knott's (a nice walk in good weather) and if you're going to any of the theme restaurants along Beach Boulevard.

With that said, however, the building itself is older. The walls are very thin and transmit sound as if through an intercom. I understand this location is going to be full of kids but then, I would have appreciated better soundproofing. The first night we were awoken around 3 a.m. by a father singing to his kids and coughing the entire remainder of the night. He was singing "itsby bitsy spider" I kid you not. They never slept. We were offered to change rooms to the only one available but had settled in and didn't think another room would be much better as far as noise.

However, the second night, around 11:30 p.m. a large group of adult tourists checked in and immediately started slamming doors and screaming. I opened the door to ask them to be a little quieter and before I could even say a word, a man said, "yeah, yeah, I been drinking." Then when they started banging on every door in the hall, I called down to the front desk. I was rewarded with a crank call after midnight by the same group of tourists.

The quality of the guests is obviously not within the control of the management (although this group should not be invited back), in 2009, I would think you could find a way to fix it so doors don't slam shut. I would stay here again but I would ask for a higher floor without an adjoining door-- and bring ear plugs.

Thank you for your very detailed review -- we do take these comments seriously and find that we, as managers, learn so much from the experts... our guests. We are pleased that you enjoyed our services, showerheads and our great location during your recent visit.
Though we can't always control our other guests, we apologize that you were impacted during your stay (our walls are fairly standard as hotels go).
The doors, so that you and other guests are aware, are self-locking - meaning that when you release the door, it will automatically close and lock for security purposes. We hope that they don't sound as if they are 'slamming' and are having our maintenance department look into that, so as to avoid any further guest noise issues.
Though we can't control all of the noise issues (especially those caused by other guests) do know that we make every effort to do just that and ask all guests to have respect for others during their stay.
Warm regards,
Your Friends at the Holiday Inn Buena Park

I was recently at a conference at the Holiday Inn Buena Park Hotel. I was thouroughly impressed! The hotel is VERY clean and modern. Most importantly, the staff is outstanding. I travel a lot and have to say that everyone went above and beyond to be helpful. When I went to go for a walk, Dennis mapped a good route for me on the computer and Javier gave me verbal directions while I waited. When I was out walking, Javier, the G.M., actually drove by in his car (1 1/2 miles out) to make sure that I was on the correct path and did not veer into a less safe neighborhood! Also, Vincent at the desk helped me with incredible patience and courtesy with the FREE wireless conection for my computer. Kudos to all! Thank you!
