“Great location – Mediocre Hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 10, 2013

We booked a room that included breakfast and tickets to the park. It was a decent deal and we enjoyed ourselves. The biggest benefit to this hotel is the location. It is right next to the park. The rooms and the breakfast are mediocre at best. We saw Snoopy in the lobby two times, so this was fun for the kids. Outside of this, there was nothing to differentiate the Knotts hotel from any other place.

The hotel is obviously older, but kept up well, and very clean. I used to work in a bed and breakfast.. and am a clean freak. The rooms and bathrooms were clean. Nothing fancy.. but they offered a really great room service menu - and we indulged in breakfast. The restaurant downstairs was outstanding.. for simple, but good meals, and the service was really great. The hotel is next to the park.. and one block off a main street with lots of good restaurants, including Bubba Gump, The Pirates Adventure, Medival Times, TGI Fridays, an Asian Bistro.. and many others. There is also a Walgreens just down the street for last minute items. Also, be sure to reserve your shuttle seats for Disneyland as soon as possible the day before - -they fill up really quickly -we learned the hard way. Front desk staff are wonderful, and the beds were surprisingly comfortable. I would definately stay again!

First room horrible on the 1st floor, smelled like pot and than the tub was not draining. Called and was moved to the 7th floor much better no smell and the tub drained. They offer shuttle service it's by appointment only! Overall it was a nice hotel with a pool, tennis and basketball court. Staff was very friendly and somewhat helpful.

Room Tip: Don't ask for the 1st floor

I'll admit it, ok, ok...I'm a Disney Girl. I've always thought of Knotts as Disney's "Ugly Step Sister", so to speak. My family & I have had Disney passes for years, we've done Disney "staycations" (yes, I said staycations, we live in The OC; really don't NEED to travel). What brought us to Knotts? Simply, we were blacked out on our Disney passes for Spring Break.

I found a deal on the Knotts Berry Farm Hotel Facebook page for a room upgrade *woot* and hoped to score a Snoopy room for my boys. Booked the room (last minute) called about the upgrade and was to call and ask for a manager the next day. Since I was checking in the following day, I would just talk to them then. To my disappointment all the Snoopy rooms were booked, well of course they were...it's Spring Break...what was I thinking? The manager, Stephen Ruggiero, did a fantastic job and managed to have Snoopy make special visit to tuck my boys in for the night!

I honestly wasn't expecting much from the Knotts Berry Farm hotel based on the reviews I read, but I must say that Stephen Ruggiero provided unparalleled customer service that made for an extraordinary stay!

Rooms- The rooms are an excellent value for your money, especially considering you are staying on the resort. Oh, and no resort fee to boot!

Dining- Amber Waves is located in the hotel. We got the package deal with the breakfast buffet & free food for the kids - I'm glad we did! The food was amazing! For dinner my husband and I had a Cajun salmon with shrimp, de-lish! The kids pizza was HUGE! I wish we had a fridge in our room, sadly much went to waste. Snoopy even came by our table to say "hi" at dinner. Breakfast buffet was your average buffet, but hey, who doesn't love BACON? Don't forget the happy hour specials - hey now! In a to-go cup please and I'll meet ya at the pool!

All-in-all fantastic stay! I'll be back (I'm my best Arnold voice).

*Sidenote* I have been in touch with Randi about using the Knotts Berry Farm Hotel as a venue for a fundraiser for my little sister with leukemia. The exemplary service during my stay has moved you UP my list.

I spend 80+ nights a year in hotels, so think I have a basis for minimum expectations.

Check in was a very long line @ 3:40 in the afternoon with only 2 people. Knew I was early, so no big deal that I had to wait for my keys at the prescribed 4pm check in time. After signing that is was OK that they send me a text when the room was ready, I finally returned an hr later and still the room is not ready. At 5:05 I was handed my keys. Mgr on duty did apologize and said she would reduce that nights stay for my inconvenience.

Bed spreads are a multicolor pattern, so hard to tell they are not clean till you fold them down and see the stains on the "white" backside. Ended up just taking them off the bed and putting them to the side on the floor.

On my third night, after they had cleaned the room the last two days, I had to call down because they still had not replenished the Soap, Shampoo and Tissues. Could make those stretch into day two, no issue, but by night three, we were out. I called down to the front desk at 9:25. At 10:35, I called back down and was told they would have it "right up". On the second floor, so didn't think this would take another 30 min and phone call. Now I have enough soap and shampoo to last through the month of April.

Lastly, the beds. HORRIBLE. My back is killing me.

ONLY stay here for the convenience of being next to the park. However, if you are up for a shuttle, there are better places close by.

Thank you for sharing your experience with us. While it was frustrating as I can imagine, it was a learning experience for my team and we have since revisited many of the procedures noted in your review. We have had shifts in management in several departments and feel very good about our growth since your last visit. While I understand this experience has left you with a negative perception of our property, I would love the opportunity to provide you with the visit that many of our guests have grown accustom too. Please contact me directly should you be returning to the area as I would love to personally design an upgraded reservation for you and your family. Thank you again, Stephen Ruggiero, Front Office Manager 714-243-2006

We enjoyed our stay here. It's a nice, middle-of-the-road hotel. It was right next to Knott's Berry Farm (walking distance), and we could hear the roller coasters at night. It's a block from a drug store for drinks (cheaper than the $3.50 in the soda machine). The 2-Queen room was big enough for our porta-crib.

We added breakfast to our stay, and it was decent. The pool and kids' water area was also nice, but we came in March so it was a little bit cold for me. My 7 year old had a blast. I used the fitness center, small but had everything I needed. Everyone was very friendly.

The room didn't have a lot of surface space. If we go back, we'll upgrade to a suite. There's only a small counter at the sink, and a tiny bit of space on the dresser, desk, and end table. With a baby and baby food, bottles, etc., we were hard pressed to get stuff done and keep things off the floor where the baby was crawling.

The hotel was very reasonably priced for what you get. If only they could do something about that Los Angeles Traffic. If we go back we will definitely try to arrive much later in the day and probably come in the summer when it's warmer and I can enjoy the pool.
