“Room facing street very noisy”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 1, 2010

Requested downstairs because no elevator. Were given a room facing the extremely busy street even though we requested a "quiet location" in the complex when we first made the online reservations. The building is fairly old and our door had a space around it, letting in the motorcycle, bus, and car noises. Only other problem was the beds do not have fitted sheets and we spent some uncomfortable lumpy nights trying to stay off the mattress! Tasty comp Danish pastries & juice. Good location if visiting Solvang. I might recommend this hotel but issue a warning to get a room facing the courtyard.

This place offers fairly standard American motel accommodations. What made it work particularly well was the location--nearby the wineries we like to visit, and Los Olivos in particular. It's next door to the Pea Soup restaurant, which we loved (oddly, they are owned by different people). The pool and hot tub were delightful. We didn't notice the miniature golf course until the morning and so it was too late to play, but we will upon return. This motel is a little pricey for what you get, and the breakfast is not worth bothering with (basically starch and juice). All in all, though, it worked for us and we will be back.

For our family reunion, we decided to forgo staying at the Days Inn, which is right across the street and closer to the family reunion action at Flying Flags RV Resort, and stay here. With small children (ages 18 mos. & 4 yrs.) I wanted to stay on the ground floor -sorry! We were given a double room on the second floor with a sliding glass door leading to the balcony. However, the lock on the sliding glass door was broken, so I couldn't lock it to keep my kids off the balcony. Anyways, long story short, the kids kept going out the door onto the balcony and climing through the deck rails to other balconies on the second floor. The deck rails seperating each balcony have a gap between them of about one foot -no good. Also, I didn't even see an elevator to take all our luggage up to the second floor. Typical continental breakfast of danish, fruit, and coffee. Good pool & hot tub, though. This is a motel -not a hotel. Thank goodness Anderson's was open for yummy breakfast!!!

I stayed here for two nights during mid week days.
The staff was nice and helpful from the moment I arrived, until the time of checkout.
The bed was so comfortable, and I slept really well both nights.
The danish and coffee in the gazebo was really good, and I loved the atmosphere.
I am planning another trip in June, and I will be staying there again!!

First thing we noticed was a Nice clean room WITHOUT that overpowering cleaner/perfume smell. Beds were comfortable and in good shape. Sheets were clean and crisp. Didn't get any bedbug bites at all. Frig and microwave were contained in a armour so were out of the way which was nice. Also, a decent complementary breakfast. Dark curtains kept out the sunlight so we were able to sleep in and enjoy or next day in Solvang, just a 7 minute drive away.
We will definitely stay here again.

Andersen's is a pleasant motel with large rooms. Our room on the first floor had a patio facing the swimming pool. The king size bed was quite comfortable and the room had a small refrigerator and microwave. Free wired internet was available in the rooms and the staff loaned us a cable. Wireless is available in the lobby. Continental breakfast served in the gazebo included good coffee, juices, Danish pastries, and great corn meal muffins. Staff were helpful. An excellent deal for a $70 winter rate.

We stopped at this hotel on our way up the coast from Santa Monica. It is a little dated, but clean and comfortable. Staff was very friendly. It was too cold for the pool but the hot tub was nice. Nice breakfast included.
