“Week long trip to California”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 26, 2013

We ended our week long trip to California with a two night stay at Bodega Bay Lodge - what a great way to end our trip to California. The hotel is very nice, with exceptionally well-kept grounds, beautiful outbuildings, welcoming lobby/reception area and spacious comfortable rooms. The rooms have working fireplaces - we didn't use ours. The staff were very friendly and helpful. They have a lovely on-site outdoor pool and hot tub area which we enjoyed each day after touring the local sites. So lovely to relax here, watch the wildlife in the surrounding wildlands and marsh area, and the ocean beyond. In the evening, there are a couple of nice outdoor seating areas, with gas fireplaces and comfy chairs to take in the sunset and the stars afterwards. There is a short wildlife trail to take you to the ocean and the expansive beach area - makes a great early morning wake-up walk. A short walk also takes you to the Bodega Bay Golf Links - unfortunately, we didn't have time to play, but it looked amazing. Each evening there was a wine & cheese reception in the lobby, which allowed us to taste some local wines - very nice! We really enjoyed our stay at Bodega Lodge, and recommend it.

Room Tip: It looked like each room has an ocean view - our certainly did, and the small balcony/patio was grea...

We stayed at the Bodega Bay Lodge last weekend for one night. We arrived early and were lucky to check-in before the regular check-in time.
We had a ground floor room with a partial ocean view and it was lovely. Our room was nicely furnished, great little patio area and a huge bathroom. The lighting in the bathroom was less than flattering for applying make-up mind, (just a tip for the girls out there) not that you tend to get all glammed-up in Bodega Bay, but it's nice to look in the mirror and not look green! But anyway...

The robes and slippers were a great touch and were most appreciated. All round a decent room.

I think what made the stay particularly special was the service though. From check-in to dinner service everyone was very friendly and courteous. The manager's happy hour with wine and cheese is a really nice touch and my husband and I enjoyed playing the giant Scrabble board game over a glass of wine or two in the lounge area.

We were really surprised by how good the Duck Club Restaurant was. Very impressed with the food, wine and service. Same for the breakfast. Well done Bodega Bay Lodge, your attention to detail and service was awesome. Your staff are a credit to you.

There's something very, very relaxing about the hotel that I can't quite put my finger on. Maybe it's a combination of the ocean air, sea views, the mist rolling in that makes you want to cozy up and just relax into the the place.
We'll be back. Next time we're going to check out the spa.

Room Tip: I guess if you have a higher up room you'll get a better view. Although some on the ground floor...

Very lovely place, nice rooms, lots of friendly people working there. We were particularly impressed with Amanda, who went out of her way to make sure everything went well. She is one of the best people I've ever met at reception. The dining room serves great food with wonderful views, but is way understaffed, which makes service very slow.

Room Tip: It looks to me that every room is terrific. Large, fireplaces, views everywhere.

We have just returned from a two night stay at the Bodega Bay Lodge. Our room, the Crows Nest was located in Bldg. 5 on the second floor. It was a huge room, nicely appointed with a fireplace and lovely view of the bay. It is the farthest room from the ofc. but this was fine for us. The breakfast was served in the lovely Duck Club and was plentiful and delicious. The staff was friendly, and helpful with directions and suggestions. Be sure and stop by the Spud Point Crab if you like clam chowder. Just a little hole in the wall with picnic tables but the clam chowder and crab cakes are the best I have ever tasted.

Room Tip: Upstairs rooms have a better view.

This lodge is located in a gorgeous location with indescribable views of the Pacific. We stayed in a "whirlpool room" with cathedral ceilings and nice furnishings. Loved the ability to blast heat just in the bathroom. Here were my issues: Check in was ridiculous. We arrived 40 minutes early and instead of checking us in to get our keys when available, we were told to wait until 4 or until they called us. I went back to the desk twice to see what our status was. At 4pm, there were 4 other couples in line and we checked in at 4:30. Ergh. Actually, I would have been very happy if they had simply had their wine reception earlier than 5 or at least, had tea and coffee available. Nevertheless, the front desk women were super nice. We had our 20 yo daughter with us and the lodge provided a uncommonly, uncomfortable cot. Time to upgrade! Would have been great to have a DVD player in room as we had brought a DVD we intended to watch. Dinner at the Duck Club was scrumptious but service was abysmal. Perhaps the kitchen was off but come on, 1 hour to wait for chicken? The biggest issue we had was spotty to non-existent cell service. When one has to be on call as a doctor and can't be reached, this is unacceptable. BBL needs to rally and get a cell tower in place near by! We drove all over the little town trying to find bars of reception!

We only had one night here but it was well worth the stay. The check in was quick and efficient with the lady giving us good information of local restaurants and things to do. We also had a glass of wine on arrival....always a bonus. Our room was HUGE, clean and had a lovely view. The bed was the most comfortable bed we had slept in and the log fire was lovely to have also, made it very romantic.

The breakfast in the restaurant has lots of choice and was delicious but huge portions!

It is expensive here, however for one or two nights it is worth it.

I was surprised by the quality of this property with the rates that are rather inexpensive. We loved the spa and the restaurant. The location is absolutely beautiful and manicured.

I can't say that the property is run-down, the rooms are a little outdated. But for a 3-star hotel, it did exceed my expectations.

Couple of negatives: one of bartenders at the outdoor lounge was rude for no reason and don't forget to pack earplugs as the nearby lighthouses goes non-stop through the night.
