“just had to do this whilst in the area”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 21, 2013

the film is a favourite of course the magical Hitchcock, the byrds fabulous, I love rod taylor... anyway stopped at bodega bay for a night and popped here for about half an hour, took all the iconic shots of the school and including the church - where the children ran to - church is a beautiful photo opportunity too. took some of the telegraph wires too - but not sure the byrds actually perched here !!! the little bodega bay store is just like the film - lots of Hitchcock and film memories and they are happy for you to go in and wander around and take photos. of course there are mugs and the likes that you can buy too.

if you are a fan of the film and in the area do this little detour.

“If your in the area, why not?”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 13, 2013

We were heading for the shore and stopped at the visitor's and the lady suggested we backtrack a little and visit the town of Bodega Bay for the "Birds theme". So, off we go having never been a fan of the Birds, but good PR makes you do these things. Visited the schoolhouse, church and the country store which has a great collection of Alfred Hitchcock memorabilia. Even AH himself is on display. I would not go out of my way to see this, but if you are in the area it is a novelty.

“For "the birds" quick flyover”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 29, 2013

This building is a private residence so you can't go on the grounds or in the building. The best deal is to see it with the Sonoma Driving Tour CD so you have some perspective on how the location was changed for the movie. Other than that, unless you are a real movie buff, it is only worth a quick stop. However, if you do want to make more of it, you can pose for a picture and place the birds in later like we did. It's about the only way to jazz up the stop.

“The Ghost of Alfred H.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 5, 2013

Yes,I've been told he visits this place on foggy nights when the moon is full and the air has a slight chill. You may be able to catch a glimpse of "The Master" being chased down the road by a cackling bunch of crows and angry seagulls yelling," CUT...CUT"!!! The Potter Schoolhouse still stands in it's ominous presence, inviting you in but BEWARE! This is no ordinary structure and you constantly feel you have to look over your shoulder or gaze into the skies for any signs of gathering flocks of our feathered friends.Did I say friends?! Go have a look if you dare! She sits atop the hill, beckoning you to sit under her shadow.Worth a look at this movie icon.In the town of Bodega next to the Casino Bar where you can quench your thirst after your escape. You may also catch a glimpse of Alfred outside the grocery store also...keep your eyes peeled and leave the love birds at home!

“fun stop”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 28, 2012

Great little start to our day of sightseeing - stop by the Bodega store and check out all the Alfred Hitchcock memorabilia, have a bowl of soup, and then right around the corner is the school and church from the movie "The Birds". The school house did not appear to be open but was a beautiful building in a very cute little town - worth the stop!
