“View of the bay overlooks the highway.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 22, 2012

We stayed one night in one of the rooms with a view of the bay. This room shared a wooden deck with the adjacent room. The deck is also the only entrance to the two rooms. The only way our neighbor could enter their unit was by passing in front of our window thereby eliminating any privacy that we might desire. Our neighbor made many trips back and forth in front of our unit. When in our room, we felt like fish in a fish bowl.

The management team at this property were pleasant. The unit was small, but had all of the basics that one would expect. Parking was tight. The breakfast consisted of sweetrolls and fruit. There was no place to sit except in our room for breakfast.

We stopped in here one evening to check on availability. This was the only night we did not have reservations on our 18 day trip in California. The front desk clerk was very friendly and gave us the keys to a room to check and see if we liked it without even asking her to do so. The rate was reasonable and the room looked fine so we took it. There was only 1 Queen bed, which was fine for one night. There were no frills, no air conditioning, no blow dryer, no clock and you had to ask at the front desk for ice. The room was clean and the wifi worked well. The breakfast was almost non existent, so don't hang around till 8AM for it. It really was coffee, bagels and bread. No milk or cereal or anything.

First of all, you need to know what you're looking for in a hotel. If you want a luxurious resort with fancy rooms, room service, and all the amenities, the Bodega Harbor Inn just isn't for you. But, if you want a quaint, charming, clean room in a beautiful setting, I recommend this place. The room is small, has no phone, but it's comfortable. Our room (#14) had a nice little view of the bay and a small deck. It was a very nice place to be but we aren't the spa vacation types. We like to go and explore so we use a hotel for changing, sleeping, and showering. The Bodega Harbor Inn was perfect for us because it supplied us with what we needed plus had the charm and atmosphere that really gave us the feel of Bodega Bay. The staff is as friendly and helpful as they come. Be sure to ask for tips on places to go, restaurants, and things to see and do. If you're a Hitchcock fan, they'll give you a list of all the places that were in The Birds so you can take in a great piece of American film history. All in all, we totally enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay again. Our only complaint is not about the Inn, but our first night's sleep was interrupted when a distant foghorn started at about 2am and continued all night. But that's Bodega Bay. No foghorn the next night and we slept very well.

This is a cute, smallish single-story motel just above Hwy 1 in Bodega Bay. It was probably built in the 60's, but is in pretty good shape. The rooms are smallish, but it is a pleasant place for a night or two. It is located right next door to a great restaurant (The Sandpiper) and a small market. You can also walk about 100 yards down the highway to another market with a deli where you can get some good pizza (by the slice or the whole thing) and some not-too-bad curry.
However, it is the service of the resident manager at the Bodega Harbor Inn, Lisa, that made this a special visit. She was so accommodating to our every need and it really helped.

Room Tip: They have a couple of larger rooms if you are traveling with more than the two of you.

room 4 was a really sweet room - furniture and design was cottage beach style with attention to detail. very clean, flat screen and fast wireless. the parking lot is gravel so it's hard to roll your luggage across - best to get there early and park at your room. a little hard to find the place in the middle of the night - so have a good map. gps won't help. but the room itself was great.

This was the smallest, most expensive place we stayed in a 30-day, 6.000 mile road trip. There was barely room enough to get around the small double bed that filled the room. There was insufficient parking for the number of rooms, so we had to lug our stuff across the parking lot.

Room Tip: Go to the Inn at the Tides

My husband and I spent 10 nights at the Bodega Harbor Inn. Whenever possible we like to visit locally owned Inns and this one just hit the top of our favorite list. The place is run by Lisa, Gracie and George-3 of the nicest people around. They went over the top to make our stay as comfortable and pleasant as possible- I think we made lifetime friends. The rooms are clean and well appointed with cute antiques. For a weekend, we decided to move to the cottage at the end of the road. There is a jacuzzi/kitchen and a large bed-very private! I loved hearing the seals at night and was told by other vacationers that there were whales but I didnt get to see them, I am missing Barney the dog already and might have to just book another trip in the near future. Thank you so much for a most memorable stay!

Room Tip: Ask for room 9 or the cottage!!
