“OK for the money”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 1, 2010

Good service at the front desk, paid only $75, room was clean but a bit old and worn. Had room in parking lot for our boat. Smelled strongly of room freshener but was able to open the windows and air it out. Bed was soft but clean and I got a good night's sleep. A/C worked great as did all the appliances. Stayed on 2nd floor so it would be quieter. Denny's next door, Great bakery and restaurant nearby, ask the desk.

A sign at the front desk informed that the Jacuzzi was Out of Order. A sign on the computer in the lobby said Out of Order. The cola machine near the lobby was Out of Order. The upholstered recliner and desk chairs in the room were heavily, heavily soiled. The room air conditioner was useless. The compressor cycled on, but the air coming out of it wasn't noticeably cool. The refrigerator in the room was annoyingly noisy, so I turned it off. The wood trim around the room's doors were heavily marred and scarred. The aerator of the bathroom sink provided an uneven water flow. The good news is that, overall, the place was clean, and nothing bit me.

Having never stayed at a Vagabond Inn, not too sure what to expect, especially traveling with a dog. Free coffee and free popcorn when we arrived. Room was very clean and smelled clean. A/C was running in the room, which was so nice on a 100 degree day. I screwed up the reservation (lol tried to make it on my iphone and forgot to hit send). They accepted the price from their website and were extra friendly. Slept well. The only draw back... the continental breakfast. Nothing was left when we arrived at 7:45am. We got juice and shared a bagel. By the way if you are traveling with a dog The Pizza Factory allows dogs on the outside patio, walking distance from the hotel (1 block).

This place was alright. I only really had two issues and one was that the wireless internet (free as it was) was very patchy, which was annoying. I also requested a bottle opener but they didn't have one, citing theft as a reason. This made it tricky to open my coronas when I retired for the evening!

Additionally I asked the front desk lady what was good to do in Bishop and she didn't seem that well informed about the area.

The room, bed, bath, TV etc though was all fine and the Inn is superclose to Denny's and Tacobell - literally right next door. The rate was something like $84 which is reasonable.

The breakfast was the usual continental fare - in the office which is quite small.

Don't want to sound nitpicking, all of the above is relatively small stuff.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 27, 2010

I arrived late on a Friday night with my teenage niece and was told the only non-smoking room left had a broken air conditioner. The room had two queen beds and it was large and clean with a nicely-appointed, clean bathroom. The air-conditioner did work after all, and the bed and pillows were clean and comfortable. Both my niece and I slept like rocks. The next morning I noticed that they have a special fish-cleaning station next to the swimming pool area. A lot of cats were hanging out under cars near in the vicinity of the fish-cleaning station, but I probably only noticed them because I arrived late at night. It appear clean.

The continental breakfast wasn't that great, but the lady in the lobby was friendly and did her best to make sure that the trays were constantly refreshed with the few options they did have.

This is definately the best Vagabond I've stayed in.

We were advised by the local tourist office to try the Best Western nearby but were quoted a ridiculous price so headed to the "Vagabond" instead. We got a warm welcome and a rate that was less than half quoted at the above! The room was a standard motel room, but with free wifi and a decent pool it made it a little gem. Also the views form the room were amazing, you are surrounded by snow capped mountains. THe receptionist advised us to have our diner at "whiskey creek", about a 10 minute walk away and we were very impressed. The free breakfast was really good. A great stopover prior to a drive through Yosemite Park.

We stayed here for 1 night. the room was of reasonable standard. They are equipped for fishing, ie provision for fish cleaning and fish freezing. This didn't interest us as we were travelling from Yosemite to Death Valley. Staff we all friendly and helpful.
We would stay here again.
