We are so lucky to live in Bishop, CA... it means we can drive up to Cardinal Village Resort for a yummy pancake (they're huge!) breakfast or a fabulous cheeseburger lunch! You won't want to miss this place... whether it's driving up from Bishop for a meal, or wanting a place to stay while you're fishing. Good atmosphere, great people, fantastic views!

We stayed here so we could get easy access to Lake Sabrina for a weekend fishing trip and thoroughly enjoyed the place. It's rustic, not the Ritz Carlton.

There's horseback riding, plenty of hiking and all the trout fishing you can handle. I think it would be a great place for kids. Our cabin was adequate with a kitchen area, stocked with utensils, plates and a full size fridge. We also found a small fire ring and deck chairs and a picnic table outside. There was even a grill but we didn't try using it.

Its definitely better than camping but common sense rules apply for food. A mouse had obviously stopped by our room at some point but we kept food properly contained and had no issues with "uninvited guests."

Breakfast in the general store was good but they don't serve dinner so we ended up back in Bishop our second night and we felt like we had to re-acclimate to the altitude all over again... Plan ahead and you can avoid this minor inconvenience. It's about a 5000 ft gain from Bishop to Cardinal Village (about 9000 ft elevation.)

Just got back from the village.cabins are comfortable with full kitchens,pots and pans,coffee pot and fireplace.
village also has a fully stocked country store with tackle store.
And the best review weights in on rainbow trout!came back with 15.

I was very dissappointed with the Cardinal Village Resort. The cabin was very dirty and extremely dusty. The welcome basket contained a rice crispy treat that a mouse had helped himself to. I met the little guy 3 nights later when he tried to sneak in. I scared him off before he could get into our food.....i had to stick everything in the fridge
The bedrooms, in our cabin, were very small and the bedding was very dusty. Our bedroom only had room for our full size bed. In order to get out of bed, we had to slide to the foot of the bed then climb out.....walls on both sides of the bed so no rolling off the sides...very claustrophobic. The floors were very dirty too. Althogh the lakes and surrounding areas were very beautiful, the cabin itself made the stay undesireable. For the amount we paid for the cabin, we expected it to be somewhat clean. Very disappointing. Great horseback riding though....and very reasonably priced ride.
