“Hidden treasure!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 8, 2012

This is our second visit to this wonderful hidden treasure, one block off highway 395. We stayed in the same room, the Green room which has direct access to the garden area. The owner Mariam was away on family emergency, but lovely young lady was filling for her and she did a marvelous job filling in for her. Our stay was relaxing and peaceful with usual wonderful cook to order breakfast. The property is well maintained as our prior visit and our traveling companions were just as pleased with their accommodation. Look forward to returning again!

Room Tip: Green or Rose for direct access to garden and parking.

We stayed there during president's day weekend. It was nice and pleasant stay. Its a friendly
family run cozy Inn great hosts. There are couple of things to note here. Most rooms have have access through its living room. Room have no individual heat or A/C controls. No kitchen access. No coffee machine in room. Overall nice cozy atmosphere. Nice backyard and lots of trees. We did see some ducks as well. Surprisingly little mountain town Bishop came out to be very beautiful and adventurous. I visited Sabrina and North lakes. We visited Mammoth lakes area. Nice adventurous and relaxing break.

Room Tip: Choose a room with separate entry.

We arrived to find a note on the door asking us to make ourselves at home: Myriam arrived moments later with a very warm welcome. The decor is marvellous, and the extensive grounds well kept and ideal for a warm evening's relaxation. Don't even consider staying anywhere else in this area.

Since I grew up in Bishop (since relocated) and have been there many, many times it was quite a surprise to follow-up on other good reports from Trip Advisor regarding the Jospeh House Bed & Breakfast. Unbelievable grounds to go with a great B&B layout of guest rooms, main room, dining room, kitchen, etc. Since we had a small dog with us we would not have been able to enjoy this facility if it wasn't dog friendly (two rooms with outside access have been designated for pet owners which helps those traveling with pets while not creating a problem for others). Sitting near a pond in the yard, after a trip up in the Bishop Creek area to photograph the colorful foliage, on a fall afternoon while enjoying a glass of wine with spouse and our small dog laying nearby in the grass was so much better than what's typically available, even at expensive hotels. This facility is priced more than a cookie-cutter room at nearby motels but the value is there for people who enjoy quality and comfort in a unique setting.

Room Tip: We had a small dog which limited us to either of two rooms with a patio access, which was fine (the...

We recently stayed for one night at the Joseph House Inn en-route from Death Valley to Yosemite, and I wish it could have been for longer. We didn't previously know anything about Bishop but it turned out to be a really great place and the Joseph House Inn was wonderful.
Miriam is a great host, very welcoming, fun and friendly and a fountain of knowledge and information about the surrounding areas from Mount Whitney to Yosemite.
Our room was beautiful and comfortable and the garden was so pretty.
We had breakfast (plentiful and tasty) outside on the patio area.
And Miriam also provided a great recommendation for dinner - the Whiskey Creek - where we had one of the best meals of our whole California trip.
Oh, and whilst in Bishop you have to check out Schatt's Bakery - it is amazing - they do the best sandwiches, breads and pastries ever! The walnut and cinnamon bun is to die for!!
I hope very much to have the opportunity to stay here again and would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Bishop or any of the attractions of the wider area.

We were absolutely overwhelmed by the beauty of the house and gardens of the Joseph House Inn! Our hosts, Meriyam, Hilde and Max couldn't have been more gracious. From the offer of a glass of wine when we arrived, to the delicous gourmet breakfasts highlighted by freshly baked breads, specialty omelettes and herbed fruit, we couldn't have felt more welcomed. The lush three acre grounds lure you to walk on the velvety grass under the giant shade trees and admire the large pond and the stream running through the property. The overstuffed chintz covered furniture in the living room invite you to curl up with a good book and a glass of wine after a day of active sight seeing. It is no wonder the hosts at Joseph House welcome their guests again and again.

We were made really welcome from the onset with a great glass of wine - just what we needed after long day in the car. The owner Myrian was so helpful in booking dinner the two nights we stayed and suggesting some great walks. The room was clean and tidy, the gardens wonderful and the breakfast fantastic. We would have stayed longer if she hadn't been fully booked. What more can I say.
