“A Nice Place to Dine in Bishop”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 30, 2013

I recently ate dinner at Sage in Bishop with two friends. The restaurant was completely full at 630pm on a Saturday night and we were glad that we had made reservations. Our server, Jeff, was very friendly and entertaining throughout the entire evening. We had the roasted brie as an appetizer, which was nicely presented and tasty. My compadres had the filet mignon and veal, which they both liked. I had a Caesar salad with steak. The steak was a bit overdone. The entrees were all priced in the mid $20 range.

My friends were also happy with the wine offerings. Being a beer snob, I was a bit disappointed with the beer selection - all bottles, nothing local and no dark beer.

Overall, the experience was quite good - not five star, but for Bishop, a nice place to dine.

“Extremely disappointing”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed September 7, 2013

This place is not worth the hype or the money. I think the chef believes he does fine dining, but he's still very far from it...

The most important thing in cooking is to choose quality ingredients. Not the case here... we got a fish filet full of fat, and a new-york steak that was obviously cut by someone who had no clue: again full of fat, but also nerves and those hard gross pieces that you need to cut away. Half the steak was a waste, and it wasn't cheap...
After that, the dessert we wanted was not available.
The only thing we truly enjoyed was a bottle of French Burgundy wine for a very fair price.

In the end we paid over 100 bucks for really bad food but good wine. Total let down.
