We booked this hotel (Resort) because it was the only place under $140 for one night. We were just going to go up to the Big Bear Octoberfest, and only needed somewhere to sleep off the partying! The front office staff, a man, was very helpful and friendly, I did notice that. It just smells "old". We were directed across the street behind the bowling barn into what looked like old converted apartments. The indoor pool was alittle green and not too inviting. We got in our room and it was about 100 degrees in there, the heater was left on. So we had to stand out in the hallway so we wouldn't melt. Our window was broken, the metal part that connects to the glass, which we called the front desk to let them know in case they tried to charge us for it. The bathroom floor was "soft" and when you flushed the toilet, the new water that was filling up would shoot in a huge waterfall all over the bathroom floor, which we had to put clean towels down so we wouldn't slip on the floor. Although it wasn't a 5 star hotel, or even a 2 star hotel, it served it's purpose for sleeping. It just needs to have some renovation done. It probably wouldn't cost too much money for some paint, some newer bed linens, and basic wear and tear. Some much needed paint on the outside to make it more inviting would be helpful. I probably would only stay here again, if it were the last resort.
